Quiet/Performance Exhaust

Ok guys, I have searched around tuners and can't seem to find what's best for me. I bought my car with an aftermarket muffler that sound pretty good while idling, deep tone sound to it, no high pitch honda muffler lol. I just hate how loud it can get sometimes when I'm just cruising. What i want to do is have my local muffler shop fabricate me some piping and install another muffler at the end, I'm just not too sure which would help better on the performance part. I'm thinking 2.5 in piping all the way but many people have 3 in. all the way. As of right now I'm running a 14b and later down the road i will be running a 16g, that's as big as I will go. Once again I'm just looking for something a little quieter and gain a little + in performance.

Thanks, Abe.

If you don't like how loud it is while cruising get a cutout? have 3" all the way from the turbo and then a Y pipe that goes to a stock 2g muffler and the other to a cutout. That's what i plan on doing haha. Just my thoughts though!

Good performance is made by good flow, I have 3in exhaust and would recommend it if your going to put a 16g on eventually. look at some thrush turbo mufflers, and other brands of the same muffleing properties. keep your eye on the cfm, (higher is better) Good luck

I've seen 420whp dynoed on 2.5'' exhaust piping. My opinion is 3'' is likley overkill for whatever setup your running.

Get a low key muffler.

From all of my research over flow, velocity, spool...etc what I've read pretty much says bigger is better. It said for best results use a gradual increase in size after the turbine housing. IIRC that was straight from an engineer at Garret. In that thread he actually referenced HP numbers but I dont recall those off of the top of my head.

Do you guys know of any link I can look into for a decent muffler to go along with the piping?

Yea that's what I'm thinking as well, since I'm only running a 14b and a 16g will be the biggest, my mind makes me think 3 in. all the way will be an over kill.?
