OK long story short I sold my buddy my old 90' Talon TSI because it overheated and blew the head gasket and warped the head. It now has a new 2g head and a head gasket. (which I did not install) Now the car will not start. When i connect with ECMlink on my laptop even when the starter is turning over the motor the RPM on the Data-log remains 0. Is this normal? I thought before when I had the car running ECMlink would show something like 200rpm just from the starter turning the motor over. I don't even have any old data-logs to look at and my 98 GSX doesn't have ECMlink yet so there is no way to see. :( We already replaced the CAS and tried again and still the same thing. Any Ideas? We are pretty lost as to why RPM reads 0 while attempting to start. We are desperate and even looking at replacing the harness and 90 harnesses are not easy to come by.

If you take the cas off and spin it by had while cranking and watch the injectors and the spark pugs nothing happens. No fuel no spark. The ECU is not getting the signal that the motor is turning over :(

Well we are in the same boat if you are up in Germany LOL. But I test drove my car ran fine, went to pick it up and no spark what the you know what. Trouble shot everything, knew I had a bad ignition control module so i got one of them had it shipped over, still no spark ok got to thinking had power going to the cas but not to the spark plugs, so I pulled the ecu and just checked it over cracked the case and bam the caps were blown and the circuit board was charred. So since you have no fuel no spark I would def. pull the ecu out and check it its usually the last thing to check but like i said mine to a crap its a 91 and i have been waiting almost 2 weeks now for the ecu to show up europe sucks when we have to get our parts!

Have you tried a different ecu yet? Posibilty it went bad?

Yeah I tried the factory non-eprom ECU no start.

The ECMlink chipped ECU that is installed is brand new refurbished. I bought it like that then had it socketed and then plugged the chip in myself. It looks to be in perfect condition. No leaking caps.

Well there are only 2 more things that provide spark in the circuit, your ignition control module which you can test with a 1.5 volt battery and a volt meter and then there is the crankshaft sensor which you will have to pull off the timing belt cover to get to, pull it out and if its thrashed your crank has walked. But that is extreme case just trying to help trouble shoot with ya. Its hard to say since you have no fuel either, I would have to say just double check all of your connections with the link harness and then run through the fuses.

I'm having the same issue on the 91 motor as well. I replaced my ecu and Cas and I'm getting a code for the cas and I have no spark/fuel. I thought the Cas and Crank sensor where the same sensor on that vehicle?

Read the OPs post. He's working on a 90 which does not have a crank sensor under the timing belt cover. Check the ECU and ignition module (transistor).

damn it nevermind.

Have you tried measuring the voltage on the CAS pins to see if it's getting power or working. The two signals for the ECU have pull-ups in the ECU and the CAS should pull them low as you rotate the CAS. Four time per rotation on the one signals and two times per on the other.
