first of all i have a 2g auto... thats where the problem starts. I followed the procedures to replace the TPS but it didn't do anything to my idle surge at 1500 rpm (i got it down from 2500 LOL). I did a bit of searching and the only thing i can find is that the IAV is messed up.

I noticed that RRE has an article on how to disable this but i have no idea if it applies to a 2g...

any help is appreciated, ive exhausted my efforts trying to find answers :rocks:

im pretty sure its the isc... and terrys idle surge faq is the worst, its also for 1g cars

And yet a more complete or relevant guide doesn't seem to exist, unless you'd like to link one. The steps all work for a 2g as well short of setting the BISS via grounding. You do have to be smart enough to know your Idle Switch is in the TPS instead of its own sensor on a 2g as well.

ISC is below the TB... the TPS is on the front... its the same as on a 1G, maybe you meant that the IAC is in the TPS on a 2g?

im gonna test the EGR and block the FIAV tomorrow... if that doesnt fix it im gonna check the timing belt and see if its off a tooth too many...

***UPDATE***

well i did the fiav mod as described by RRE, then i took the hoses off the egr and connected them together.... that did the trick... brought the idle down to 400 so i brought it back up to 850 playing with the tps and biss....

now i just need to rephase the balance shafts...
