My neighbor has a 1997 eclipse rs 420a. He just recently got it and one day it wouldnt go into the bottom half of the gears. 2nd 4th and reverse won't engage. Slides in but slide right back out. Only those 3 gears. I tried bleeding it for him, no luck. When I tried to pull it out of 3rd it takes a long pull to get it out, almost like I have to go to 4th to get it out. Any suggestions? He was told the clutch was replaced a couple months ago. My initial thought was trans. Maybe the synchros are bad. Any help would do.

I don't know what to look for on the cables. As far as the ends where the cottor pin goes the nudging or rubber looks good.

93_tsi was right. It was the shorter cable at the transmission. Thanks for the pointers. Problem solved.
