Evo 3 16g GT Log, advice appreciated

Hello, I just did a log and wanted to see how my car's doing. The car has evo 560cc injectors, a 190 pump, and SAFC. Boost was set at 17psi but fluctuated a little in the middle of my pull. I did this pull in 2nd gear..too afraid to do 3rd gear on the street.

RPM TIMING AIRFLOW TPS O2

2707 33 0.78 5.5 0.02
2758 33 2 15.72 0.86
2863 29 4.46 59.72 0.92
3043 14 6.8 99.41 0.94
3340 22 7.46 100.2 0.94
3586 18 9.39 100.2 0.94
3859 12 12.46 100.2 0.94
4168 10 15.78 100.2 0.96
4527 9 18.62 100.2 0.96
5020 9 21.04 100.2 0.96
5063 12 22.29 100.2 0.96
5484 11 22.28 100.2 0.96
5730 15 23.14 100.2 0.96
5996 16 23.63 100.2 0.96
6297 18 24.13 100.2 0.96
6523 19 25.08 100.2 0.96
6762 19 25.91 100.2 0.96
6672 19 26.85 73.48 0.96
5906 38 4.45 0 0.74
2664 33 1.31 0 0.66

I calculated an airflow of about 31 lbs/min. Does that sound about right? Should i richen it up a little at 5484 rpm because of the timing dip?

Where is the turbo spooling at? It looks like you are getting quite a bit of knock, especially around 4500-500rpm. I would richen everything up from 3500-5500 and do another log.

The turbo spools by about 3500.

I did a new log at lower boost ~ 14 psi. My SAFC correction is -14%. Is my timing dip caused by knock? I'm not exactly how timing curves are supposed to look. Do they usually increase, then decrease when you fully spool up, then climb back up? Based on the o2 values, it seems kinda rich. Please help!

you are correct about the timing curve...when you hit boost it should drop around 8-10 and then steadily climb to redline. you dont have dips or fall backs in your timing, so that is good, but you do have pretty good sized jumps. you may be a tad rich, and in that case i would start adding boost, maybe like 2 psi. then do another log and see how the timing looks and the o2 volts. i would think they should drop to .94 or .96.

according to your afc settings and airflow numbers, you are making 270hp at 6633rpm, not bad for 14psi. (i believe i did this calculation correctly).

i'm no excellent tuner, but that's my input, someone else chime in!

Your timing seems really hight to me.. Are you sure you have correct base timing @ 5deg?

I actually don't have a timing light so I don't know how to check the base timing. I did have my timing belt replaced before by DSM motorsports so I hope it's good.. What else could cause high timing?

It's actually a good thing, as long as your not knocking... Timing is based off of airflow (g/rev), RPM and knock..

boostnhard is assuming that because the timing drops one degree at the 5484rpm point in the first log, that the motor is knocking. When the ECU hears knock, it begins to retard timing in an attempt to control the knock. If it reachs it's maximum timing pull and still hears knock, it attempts to lower boost via the BCS (Boost Control Solenoid).

I would dismiss the 5484rpm point as an increase of IAT over 84 degrees, which will cause you to loose one degree. Or quite possibly an increase of coolant temp over 206 degrees, which will also cost you a degree. Another explanation could be that the ECU is just droping you into a lower timing map because of increased airflow.

The second log looks good, the initial timing pull is coming down to where it should be, but it's still a little high. Nice consistent increase to 20+ degrees, with no signs of knock.

At 7184 rpm, you are flowing 27.86 lbs/min assuming the -14% correction factor you posted above. Sounds about right for a 14b at 14psi.
