Female racers taken seriously?

Do you think girl racers are taken seriously? Girls in motorsports at all? Just curious.

Ya, but at first glance would you expect a male driver to be better than a female? I mean how many professional female drivers are out there? I think I have a preconcieved image that women are terrible drivers.

If it looked like a "race themed" car, I wouldn't discount the driver based on gender. I might play with them a little to see what the deal is, though.

i look at the car, before the driver in any race situation... (on the streets)

but in other motorsports, they dont seem to accel as much as the men,, like in nascar,f-1, rally, not alot of women are in the top rankings. But at least they are in the rankings!

Why do you think it is that the majority of racers are guys? Just a guy sort of thing?

By the way I'm asking these questions because I'm trying to write a paper, and was curious as to what the general consensus was.

For the most part females are not good drivers, then again they do get lower insurance than me. There will always be some that are very good at driving and some that are horribly disadvantaged. Anyone who has met my sister will agree. First she drove around in a Tsi with a broken head gasket and burnt the poor thing up and now she ran an RS into a huge truck and took out the front end. Luckily now shes onto destroying a Chyrsler PT Cruiser, .

Theres a difference between males and females when it comes to driving. Males are just crazy and think they can drive faster around corners and such than they really can. Females are just bad drivers and wreck when driving around everyday. Before someone starts quoting me and getting ready for battle, the last two lines I've said are very broad and shouldn't be taken as an absolute. Just an observation I have made.

Um the only female racer I even know of was the one that was raceing in NASCAR, but she wrecked almost every race and never finished in the top 20 :laugh: so I dont take them seriously.


It is a scientific fact that male's make better drivers, BECOUSE men have better depth perseption. So we can judge distance's more accuretly than wemon. Which is EXTREAMLY important in high speed raceing.

on the flip side, the famale body can take more G force on avg than the male body.

The reason most girls arent good drivers is the lack of interest. My sister was raised by my father mostly and she is still girly but also rides motorcross has a crotch rocket and can drive just as good as a guy. My ex girlfriend was a full out girly girl but when we started dating she got into cars and she would always race the guys and beat them. The more a female is into it the better i think they are at it. Its just most girls are raised to be in the passenger seat and not get into cars.

I agree, most women just don't care about driving or their cars. Cars are usually just something they think are cute, and that getds them back and forth to where they need to go.

Most women do not pay close enough attention to driving either. They are either looking at their hair/makup, guys in nice cars, or generally just looking around at what they are driving past.

This makes the ones of us that actually can drive look bad without ever having done anything remotely stupid while driving.

I'm sure people driving around me feel that I cannot drive. I dart in and out of traffic and speed almost all the time. I have a good ability to judge distances though, and can determine where my car will or will not fit, and also to pay close enough attention if someone is speeding up to try and cut me off. Although, I have never caused an accident or been in an accident that was caused by me; I have been in several that had I not had the driving skills I have, the outcome may have turned out worse.

Saying that men have better depth perseption then women or that they have better skills is not true at all. Driving takes consentration and will power, to pay attention to what you and others around you are doing at all times. This affects both men and women...and trust me I have seen my share of both that cannot drive worth a sh*t.

Now you could probably say that women don't pay attention as much as men, and that would be true...but not that men are better just because they are men. Thats just absurd.

I myself have a reaction time of .535 (woulda been better but I redlighted at .486). SoO I feel like my ability to drive is alot better then alot of other women driving around..maybe I'm wrong..but I don't think so.

I think anybody that claims they are a "racer" is ### unless they actually do real racing (ie. auto X, roadracing). Drag racing doesn't count in my opinion, unless it's a 700+hp car it requires no real skill at all.

I especially hate it when girls claim that they "race". Probably because all the ones that say that are 15-16 yr old girls that drive illegally once in a blue moon, and says "yea I've been racing for 3 years"

Anyways, I use to think only girls can't drive, but from 5 years of driving on the road, I would have to say a lot of guys drive just as bad as girls.

Most people on the road can't drive stick, even if they could they probably can't drive it well, they can't heel & toe downshift, and they have no regards for other people's saftey, put decals and huge wings on their civics and call themselves "racers". When a girl does it I personally think it's even worse.

A lot of people might "THINK" they have control over their cars, or that they have good judgement. You having not gotten into an accident yet is just luck, not because you have good skills. Punks that weave in n out of traffic tailgating people make me

Oh yea, I think girl wannabe street racers are even gayer after watching the show True Life "I'm a streetracer" on MTV. Where that chick in a riced out civic said she had 200 race and never lost once or someshit like that, talking all cocky, and when they set her up to race somebody she was so nervous she was shaking, and saying " i'm gonna lose". Problem with "street racing" is a lot of people get NERVOUS, and when you're nervous you're not really using your judgement. All I can say is....patheticness.
