So a few weeks after my wreck, I'm back! I found what I thought was another mint white 98 GSX in Chicago, IL but was proven other wise. At first glance I could tell the guy hadn't washed it in a few months it seemed. In the autotrader ad he said there was no rust but there def. was rust. A lot underneath of course, some in the engine bay, not to mention black crap everywhere in the engine bay, and a little bit in the hatch area. When I got it home, which was a long long 9 hour drive but it did it without a hitch, I noticed the radiator fan was completely broken. The fan was just sitting in the assembly. Amazingly it didn't overheat on that long drive home. The previous owner also did a few "newbish" things. He had the boost controller coming off the BOV line and the 1g BOV was "crushed". Maybe not exactly newbish but I think it is. I'm just waiting for the pipe from RRE to come in so I can take that boost controller off of the BOV line. The car has a 14b turbo on it from a Galant VR4 and some ebay filter. The car seems to have no problems what-so-ever besides an Anti-Lock light which I'll get it looked at sometime soon. I forgot to add it has an aftermarket boost gauge which I recently changed out to a GlowShift, which I love!

I spent the past week taking parts from my other totaled 98 GSX. I took so many various parts that ranged from the throttle body to the little miticulous clips and screws throughout the interior and exterior as well as the engine bay. Here's a link to the post I made about my wreck: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/293194-what-happens-when-others-dont-s-t-o-p-my-wreck.html

I also spent the past few days cleaning the car as best I could. It was a smoker so I had a lot of cleaning to do. It had some ugly black rims so I changed those from the wrecked car. The one rim that got hit is bent up in the back so I'm just waiting on a new rim to come in. I already bought a new tire for it. It also needs an alignment bad!

Here's some pics of the car before it was in my hands:

very nice find!!

i do have a question though, your last GSX was a auto and this one is an auto as well, do you not like 5-speeds? or is it something else?...im just wondering is all...

Well, this is what I tell everyone and I get the same ol, same ol. Why? And it doesn't matter. But I hate traffic. :notgood: With a passion. I have to drive 25 miles to work and 25 miles back home and it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get home, in stop and go driving. Thats the main reason. But of course there are times where I wish and would love to have a manual but I like the auto's a lot. Plus brake boosting is fun! :p

Maybe I'm being too picky. I know its a lot nicer than other Eclipse's I've seen but I really lucked out on the one that got totaled. It was in mint condition. So I guess I'm just holding it to higher standards.

Nice car i like it, but the black rims look good too. I like the whole black and white combo
I love the black rim/carbon fiber hood look! It's actually something I want to do in the near future but I just hated those rims. It just wasn't what I like. These are the ones I want: ASA AR1 Black w/Mach Lip

Good luck with the new car, the previous one looked really good from the pictures you posted, hopefully this one will turn out just as good!!

Don't know what you plan to do about the smoke smell, I absolutely hate that smell and the smell of cigarettes in general, but a couple years back my mom bought a used, year old civic that had been driven by a smoker and it stank like crazy, but my mom found this stuff in a little container that looked like a foamy, turquoise gel that she put in the car, and the smell was completely gone in 2-3 days. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but it worked really well, maybe something like this would be good for you as well if you can find it.

The key to getting the smoke smell out of a car is to spray down the top liner with Febreeze or something that will eliminate odors.

Yea I finally got the stank out. I had some air fresheners from the wrecked car that I put in there. I noticed that the wrecked car had an over-whelming, but good, smell from the air fresheners sitting on the dash from the sun. So I did the same with new car and it helped, but only a little. So day after day I would spray Febreeze in the car as well as wet-vaccuuming it helped as well as some new rubber floor mats. Those took over the entire car! LOL
