wow, my drivers side front suspension is absolutely driving me crazy. it seems that only during the cold... and we're in winter...this absolutely horrible squeaking/rubbing/no lubrication noise comes from the drives side front. i can hear it when driving or when sitting there and moving the wheel while parked. i thought it was a strut, but it is still tight and there is nothing wrong with the ride, just this awful noise.
anyone have an idea what this could be?
i did notice that it stopped when we had a warm day or 2 and then soon after came back. druing my 14b install i had the front jacked for a week or less, and upon driving after that it stopped the noise for a day or 2, then came back...
anyway, any input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Something that needs lube doesn't have enough. Whether that's a sealed balljoint, a bushing, or something else, you'll just have to track down. Or, hire someone who can.

I went through the same thing last winter that you are going through now. You're not kidding when you say it's an embarrassment either. It turned out to be a ball joint in my case. We took care of it by lubing it and just moving the wheel back and forth to work it in. Since then it's been fine. Maybe something that would be worth your time to try. Good luck.

hey I was going to ask the same question but you beat me to it and hell yeah its super annoying and an embarrassment at that.
BTW, what type of lube did you use to get rid of the horrid noise?

There was actually 1 recall on the 95 Talon's ball joints and one on the 95-98 Talon's ball joints. So that is 2 for the 95s. I have the same squeeking sound from my pass. side.
I went to the dealership today and talked to the head mechanic, he said that they would take a look at it and if it was indeed in need of replacing it would be done free of charge.

I should find out this Thursday (1/15/04) and I will let you know how things go.

I just got back from the dealership. The creaking is coming from my upper ball joints. The mechanic said that they are dry, but not loose, which is causing the noise.

The upper ball joints are not included under the recall, only the lower.

So I am going to attempt to lube sealed balljoints, or at least lube the area...
