I am in the process of buying spring for my 91 TSI.. Locally i can get H&R or Eibach Sportlines.. A friend has H&R on his 90 TSI with 18's, and it ride sorta bouncy, but handles like a champ.. I have read threads and reviews on Sportlines, and they seem to be pretty much the same way.. In u guys opinion..Dollar for dollar.. which do u prefer?? I am looking for a better than stock ride and good handling.. Mississippi streets are horrible, so please take that into account..

More importantly, what shocks are you planning on pairing these springs with? If you say stock, please God just wait and save some more money or just don't do anything.

for the money what do u suggest? I was going to try thr KYB GR-2's.. someone told me they didnt have enough travel in them..

so i can use gr-2's on 17 inch rims, with a 1.5 - 1.75 in drop..

I know that AGX's are the best for launching, but how do the GR-@'s handle it?? Do they squat alot??

Yeah you should be fine. The wheel size doesn't matter. My car is probbaly 2 in drop in the front and the gr2's handle it just fine.

wheel size does make a difference since the shocks are in control of that weight. throw some light weight 16's on a car that was rolling on some heavy ass 19's and you'll notice a big damn difference. in his instance it probably won't make a noticeable difference, but realize that as a blanket statement saying that wheel size doesn't affect suspension is wrong.

Amen. When the ASA IS6 17x8s with 245/45/17 Kumho MXs come off and the Kosei K1 16x8.5 with 245/45/16 V700s go on, it's like I just spent an extra $500 on the suspension and the car gained 15 hp.

And your assumption that a bigger wheel weighs more is wrong as well..
I believe his *intent* in stating he has 17" wheels was to make sure he wouldn't rub with the new drop, and my95tsi's response that wheel size doesn't matter is correct, if the person uses the proper tire size to match the OE tires; therefore wheel size, in that aspect, is irrelevant. On top of that, since this person is going with low end shocks, I seriously doubt he’s concerned with the small difference between total wheel weight of a 17” wheel compared to slightly smaller size.

I will have to get a kit for the front and rear..right??? how much is a good camber kit?? I had some some 18 inch SACCI's on my car before. the offset was wrong, and i rubbed a grove into the front tire..I was happy to get rid of them..This time i wnat some ADR 17's, with a 1.5-1.7 inch drop, with the right size tire, good lowering springs, and good shocks.. I race my car evey now and then..I wanted GR-2's, because they are greatly priced, and ride good..any suggestions??

true there are instances where a 17" weighs less than a 16", but i was mainly concerned with the fact that in 90% of most cases the larger wheel will be heavier.

i do agree that the difference will be almost un-noticeable in this situation though. :)
