Alright I have a dilema... And would appreciate everyone's input... Here it goes:
I currently have a '91 TSi AWD... It's a daily driver, autoX, and drag vehicle. Currently it has 17x7.5in. Fittipaldi Avus Wheels wrapped in Nitto 450 225/45/17 rubber. I also have the original wheels which were white (16x6in. swirls), but have been media blasted - sanded - painted & clear coated (black w/ polished lip), they came out really well. I also have a set of 205/55/16 tires, but they are used and not the best things around.
The Fittipaldi's weigh in @: 27lbs w/o tire
The stock's weigh in @: 20lbs w/o tire
So the Fittipaldi's are heavy - but they're a 'good' size...
The stock wheels are nice (practically brand new) but are not the best size... I would like to keep the 225mm width - or wider, but I am aware that most 'shy' away from the 225 width on a 6in rim...
I would like to lose as much weight as possible and have been lookin at ROTA's (spec. the Subzero) which are lightweight and look hella good (16x7 @ 14.5lbs) - Yes I would like some SSR's but cannot afford them...
So do I sell the Fittipaldi's w/ tires & the Stocks w/ the 'used' tires and buy the ROTA's (or other lightweight INEXPENSIVE wheel and new tires - that actually are a 'performance' tire) or keep the stocks and sell the Fittipaldi's to get a good set of tires (must last @ min. 14K miles & be 225/50/16) - but I do lose the width... and that concerns me...
Overall I only will have $300 to spend + whatever I sell the other wheels/tires for...
Sorry it's so long... Thanks in advance for your input...
