i am sure that many others of you want brembo's:)

have any of you seen an evo8 up close? is there a possiblity of this fitting our dsm's.

thanx for any help

ps.... i am looking for a front/rear combo

Why go through the expense and trouble of swapping and fabricating brackets when you can get a set of Stoptech 13s for $1700?

The 4 pot caliper is virtually identical to Brembo's F40 calipers. Some say it's better. The rotors are two piece design. If I had the $$, that's the brake kit I'd go for. But, since I don't... I'll probably go for the Baer Track kit. Stops just as good, just not as fancy. For street, the Baer is plenty good.

The Stoptechs may be a bit of an overkill. Having brakes that are too good may actually be bad. It's all about finding the balance. If it's looks you are after, you can order the Stoptechs with red calipers. Same price.

To answer the original question; no, the EVO caliper will not bolt on to a DSM.

Secondly, the StopTech ST40 caliper is not virtually identical to the Brembo F40. Other then having 4 pistons they are totally different. Furthermore, the StopTech does not stop just as good as the Baer Track kit, it stops BETTER! I had the Track kit for three years and this past March I replaced it with the kit from StopTech. The StopTech is superior in every way to the Baer, not that Baer is bad, and in fact the Baer is a very good kit for the money, IMHO.

But I do agree that going to the trouble and expense of having custom brackets and rotors fabricated to work with the EVO calipers is not worth it. If you really want Brembo then go to Tire Rack and buy the Brembo brake kit for your car. If you want a much less expensive high quality 4-piston brake kit then I would look at StopTech.

1st i can fabricate mounting brakets myself

2nd the evo has the same bolt pattern as the dsm's (so that mean the rotor will fit

3rd i am going to running 17's or 18's for sure.

4th i already stated once that i am looking for a complete front/rear package (i like the stoptech but that is only for the front )

soo....
i am just wondering if any of the dsm community knows either where i can get a complete package or would like to help with fabrication ideas

thanx again

You don't need bigger rear brakes. If you wan the matching look, you can get rotors for the rear and paint the calipers.

I've already done what you want. Front and rear.

Put a 13" FSL or BSL6 on 1.1 set up on the front and a 12" .81 on the rear.

Can do wider fronts if that's what you want, but calipers become more limited in size for the application. Rear caliper choices vary by mounting requirements.

As for the 'need' of more rear; that's tough. The bias is greatly shifted to the front with the larger kits up front and some of it can be brought back with a rear kit. But then for hard track use you'll still have to limit it back there as the car will transfer heavily to the front anyhow. In all it's not the increase in torque you'll be gaining but the thermal capacity and real pad choices you'll have.
