Hello,

I am looking into a lowering kit for my 1990 Eagle talon AWD. I have heard good and bad things about intrax, einbach and others.. What do you think is the best one?I am looking for a 1.5" to 1.8" lowering kit, would I need camber kits?

Also, should I repace the stock shocks, and if so, which ones should I go with?

I am also looking into get a 17" x 7" Motegi FF6 wheel, has anyone heard anything bad about them? Here is the link to the page:

Motegi FF6

Thanks Michael!

Hi,

I have also beeen looking for a lowering kit for a 90-91 Talon TSi AWD, and I have decided to go with the Eibach sportline springs (1.8 inch drop), with KYB AGX shocks, I am not sure what camber kits I am going to go with yet. Hope this helps.

for the money-eibach sportline drop w/ kyb gr-2 struts

But there are extremly exspensive and better struts and springs and coil overs that are supposubly better performing. But They can get very pricey.

Eibach Sportlines and KYB AGX struts. Check eBay first, you can get a set of AGX's for $300-330 shipped. It's an awesome setup. Also, I have heard that Motegi wheels are made of cheap materials and tend to bend/crack VERY easily. Since you're AWD, I'd assume you'd like a decent launch. Look into some lighter wheels (eg. Rota, Kosei, etc) and I think you'd enjoy the setup. Don't forget to get some nice tires; they'll make or break your setup.

Hey guys,

Well from what I am hearing, Eibach are the best... umm.. :D

Has anyone had any experience with SPRINT springs? I found them on Ebay and just was wondering..

Don't be afraid to buy Sprint. They make decent products. Most people recommend Eibach because of their high compression rate and stiffness. I will be going with Sprint springs on my car as well, and haven't heard any bad things about them at all. Just make sure that they are new, and don't buy off of someone with crappy feedback. (eBay is sketchy)

What about KYB GR-2 shocks?? They anygood?? Will they work good with a 1" drop?? Will I have to get a chamber adjustment kit if I do a 1" drop??

ProjectAWDeagle,
I think your decision depends on what your motives are. If you just want that lowered look or want to get rid of fender well gap most of your lowering springs will do the job. You will be getting different ride quality from any lowering spring. Some better than others. If you are wanting a set of lowering springs to help in the handling department I'd do alot of research. I personally have had the Eibach Pro-Kit and KYB AGX combo on a previous DSM and was really happy with it. Was the ride stiff? Oh yeah. Several of the streets I drive on everyday are horrible and have cracks and fixed cracks everywhere. Did it suck with those stiff springs? Kinda. But the feeling I got while out tackling some corners was awesome. As far as shocks go it depends if you need them. On a 1990 you probably might as well. But I own a 1990 with what I assume are still oem shocks that are still awesome. Which shocks to go with also depends on your motives. If you want original replacement to go with your lowering springs go with something like the non-adjustable KYB GR-2s. However, if you're after the handling side of things the AGXs are great for 1gs. With the AGXs I'd have a daily settings group and then a different group of settings for when I really wanted to drive hard. One more thing is its easiest to change the shocks with the springs. They both have to come out to do either job. Good luck with the decisions. If you decide on going with a more expensive great handling setup do your homework!!! Later.

The lowest I've seen for a set of lowering springs is about 2.25 - 2.5" of drop. You might want to look into something like ground control coilovers which might give you what you're looking for. Ground Control's are nice I've heard but are kinda pricey for just a lowered look. You should be able to find a brand with something similar but cheaper. Later.

Eibach pro-kit and Koni adjustables (yellows). Best ride I have ever had.
Droped a little more than an inch, got rid of a little fender gap, still corners better than Eibach sportline and KYB AGX combo.

I'll second the recommendation of Yellows. I had Yellows paired with H&R springs on my CRX and the cornering was immense (don't forget tires make the biggest difference of all, though). The valving is somewhat stiff but they will stand up to whatever abuse you throw them. Not to mention they carry a lifetime warranty no matter what you do to them (AGX's aren't warrantied for most lowered apps).

My suggestion would be (for a first gen) Yellows for the front (shortened shock body on 1g's), and AGX's for the rear (externally adjustable unlike Yellow rears). Costs about $600 from RRE, and pair that with DSS coilovers and for just under a grand you'd have a very mean handling adjustable setup. If you aren't so into handling, though, that's probably overkill, just go with Eibach's and AGX's.
