225/50/16's on stock 1G rims

just a quick one. i found a killer deal on 225/50/16" tires. my question is will they fit on my stock 1G rims?

How wide are your stock rims? You can do 225s on 7" rims no problem. Most 225s fit 6.5" rims "OK". 225 on 6" is occasionally "possible", but NOT recommended!

i have no idea how wide the stock 1G tsi rims are. are there more then one 16" rim that comes stock on 1G awd cars?

They are 6.5 inches wide. There is no way a 225 50 tire will fit on the rim and be of any benefit to you. Having all that extra tire on the rim will only make it flex and distort. This isn’t the back tire on your Mustang you need to follow rim/tire sizing.

thanks for the help i actually did know that it was not the tires on the back of the mustang. it has 275/40's out back also if im not mistaken the 16" stock wheel is 6 inches wide, and the 225/50/16 will fit. im only going with these tires because i found them for $60 a tire.they are Yokohama AVS Intermediate they normaly sell for $205 a tire. my tires that are on the car now are horrible.

225/50's will fit, there are a lot of people out there running this size. the general consensus is that this is THE widest you'll want to go with stock rims, but not really recommended.

They have really soft sidewalls. If it's for street driving I wouldn't recomend them because the sidewall will rollover very badly on the 6" wheels. For drag racing though they would work well. Very sticky rubber compound and a soft sidewall equals great launches.
Actually they have been cheap for quite some time now, they were around $90 a year ago. They went way down in the spring since yokohama came out with a new ultra high performance tire.

thanks for the help guys tire rack is great. ordered monday and they came today how the hell does tire rack ship so fast. ill take it easy on the curves until i get the slip streams.

The 225's will seat nicely on 7"-7.5" wide rims.

they certainly do, the 225/50/16's look great on the factory wheel and ride very very nice. i love them

I did this for a couple of years, and there was always one tire that lost air pressure every 4-5 days. Be sure to check the pressure religiosly.

cool i will keep an eye out. the car has not moved in about 4 days but i will check to see if any tires are low
