I'm in need of a few questions answered by people that own 18"s.

How much do 1997 talon stock rims weigh, and on average, how much more does an 18" weigh?

I currently have 16" ADR Shinwa rims, and i bent 2 of them up in an accident, so insurance is going to buy me new ones. Instead, i decided i want the money and im going to put it towards some 18"s. Would jumping from 16"s to 18"s be a significant loss of power?

Also, how much more does chrome weigh?

I heard that the 18" tires are expensive, and they wear extremely fast... buddy told me he had 50% tread left after 6,000 miles.

thanks

well your buddies a tool. Maybe he should adjust his camber and toe. So basically you can't decide between 16" or 18" wheels? Thats kinda dumbass question. DO you want big wheels or small ones? there ya go. oh ya and in case you didn't catch that before... You're friend is a dumbass.

Aftermarket wheel weights vary widely. Obviously if you concerned about shaving 1/10 second off your quarter mile time, weight might be a concern. Otherwise the effect of heavier wheels is negligible. More likely it’s an appearance issue. Get what you think looks good. Better handling is possible with larger wheels.

18 inch tires are available in a wide range of wear and speed ratings with corresponding pricing.

Did I miss something? Why not go with 17's... good inbetween plus not totally outrageous on $$$... tires are easy to get... and lot's of them.... Just my $.02

*I have a set of 17x7.5 Fittilpaldi's for sale.. PM me if you're interested - shameless plug....
