Following a change of wheels from stock to 18s, I had Espelir Coils installed coupled with KYB AGXs. The ride is better, I would say a little stiffer than stock when the GSX was new. I tested it on the freeway on my way home and the car drives like a new animal now that it is lowered and has 18 all around. I did tight right and left turns, the car planted very well - lower center of gravity makes better turns.

Espelir coils are used in GT races in Japan and fairly new here stateside. I am not sure if they are made or marketed by Rays Engineering (makers of Volk wheels) but they are carried by Mackin Industries.

Espelir is a different company than Ray's Engineering, just a FYI.

They're new here and the Eclipse being a Japanese car for the American market, I dont know if they make them for 1G. You can email Mackin and see if they carry it.

Thanks for clearing it up. The Mackin rep who i talked to said that Espelirs are made by Rays so I just took what he said. I like how they feel on the car. With sticky tires and strut bars, the GSX corners like its on rails right now. I should use a G meter and see how it impoved.

their website only shows springs for the GST. do these springs work for the GSX also? and how much did they lower your car?

I have lowered the car by 1.5" in front and about 1.7" in the back. They are noticeably stiffer than the stock GSX springs but not too much to induce bump steer. I like it specially when doing hi speed turns coz with the grip of the GSX and almost no sway, you can take on corners like never before.

I need to check what the box says. There are 2 kinds of Espelirs, btw, the Active Super Down (blue spring) which I have, and Active GT (red spring).

Shouldn't that be switched around 1.7 front and 1.5 rear drop for a better traction ride setup

You're right, I switched it by mistake. My only gripe with lowering the car is that it's harder to raise it now to do maintenance under the car. It also is prone to rubbing on dips even if Im too careful trying to clear them.

It looks sweet though.

yeah very true ur car does look mad sweet...to bad im lower then must dsm ppl .... killer camber...can u say tires last at most 4 months......Chris knows S-02 and S-03 tires are not cheap only the best for our dsm...
