Ok, so I just got my Yokohama AVS ES100's put on my GST yesterday... So, naturally, I want to really dig into em and see what they can do... Well, the guy told me when I was leaving that I couldn't brake hard or spin tires for at least 24 hours... He said the lubricant they used to put the tires on needed that time to dry out, otherwise the wheel might start slipping around the rim, messing up the balance... Has anyone ever heard of this?

I doubt it. It could be possible with high HP and sticky tire situations (cheater slicks) but for street tires, you are good to go.

I lost the bead on a fresh tire 6 months ago the same day that I had the tires installed. Listen to the guy and take it easy. It's easier to drive slow than replace a ruined tire with 5 miles on it.

I was thinking about it a little more.

The only time I can see that being an issue (aside from what I previously mentioned) is with AWD. A good hard launch might do that. Since you have FWD, and probably no posi, the tire will spin way before the bead adhesive will slip.

See if you can find a tire shop where they drug-test the employees. It's just easier to trust them.

DSMs are massively scary-powerfulOMG but I don't think many of us are ever going to sit in one that'll bead-creep its tires. We'll probably not ever drive tires that develop that kind of grip.

Oh, and don't break traction with your car. It is Bad for Things.
