I got my car 6 months ago and it came with Kyb GR2's with Skunkworks Coil-over system. So I have never felt how stock shocks feel. All I know is I live in michigan and our roads are crap so the car rides like crap. I have been through the forums and none of the aftermarket shocks seem to compare to the stock shocks. Does anyone actually have shocks that ride really good im not looking for a cadillac ride but I dont want my car to sound like its going to fall apart every time I hit a pot hole or crack in the road.

Think I found enough support in this forum. Looks like the Tokico Illumna adjustable shocks are the best for the money and alot of people seem to like the eiback spring kits. I guess my new question now is can I keep my coilovers and just buy some illuminas or would the ride still be rough?

I think it partially depends on how low you car is too. If it's riding rough because your hitting the bump stops, then that might be hard to fix. But it seems that everyone says Skunks suck and you should get GC if you want a decent ride.

I heard ground controls were better too but I also heard that springs were better than coil overs as far as comfort goes not adjustability of ride height. I really just want a nice ride, a small drop is all I really need, I dont have to be pushing a pop can around. So is it my skunk2 coilovers that are making the ride so harsh or is it a combination of the skunks and shocks I have? It would be cheaper if I only had to buy one or the other....but if I had to I would probably buy the adjustable illuminas shocks with eiback springs they sound the most popular.

My suggestion is to look into some Ground Controls. Since you live in Michigan, it'd be nice to raise when it snows like a mofo. Ohio is the same way. Our roads & winters suck.

Try the Ground Controls. They will help. If its not enough for you then look into KONI Sports or the Reds. I have never been a fan of Tokico. You have to have a very good spring to make them even come close to being comfortable.
