where to buy a manual rack for a 1g

just wondering who sells a manual rack for a 1g? or what car can i get it off of? and what do they usualy cost.

Call around to junk yards etc etc..you need to get them from a used 1st gen dsm...so junk yards or maybe dsmtrader.com would be your best bet..

i figured that maybe i would be able to buy one new but c.a.p. did have a listing for a 90-94 dsm with a manual rack.

some 1.8's didn't have power steering and came with manual steering racks

thats what i called c.a.p. for. any 1.8 from 90-94 and they said that the only one they could get is a power steering rack.

hmmm.. that's strange. my 1.8 came without power steering. in fact, I think PS was an option (for 94 at least)

I think he's referring to the unavailablity of a reman or new manual rack.

Look for 1.8l plymouth lasers, I don't think they even had an option for power units. That's what's in my car. $90 for the rack w/ mounts and rubber (note you need those too, no tube on the passenger side of a manual rack).
