What is needed to make a 245/45/17 tire fit in the front of a 2G. I am not familiar with the particular offsets for our cars and am just trying to get a feel for the wheel offset I should be looking for to fit tires this wide or a what combination of wheel offset and spacers would make this work. Any input would be great. Thanks

yes the tires will fit the 2g in front but i have an awd and they slightly rub the spindle in the rear i am thinking of trying 245/40/17 that will also be closer to the correct overall diameter of the stock 205/55/16

Yes, like stated above, they will fit. However, it is a very tight fit and won't work with some tires. I tried Michelin Pilots (245/45/17) and the rubbed on all of the spindles because they have a large shoulder. My Dunlop SP9000's don't rub but are very, very tight. When I get new tires, I will go with either a 40 or 35 tire wall to avoid rubbing.

Why are you guys running tires that are the wrong diameter? Those are 25.6" tall, you SHOULD have around a 24.8" tire. No wonder you have rubbing problems. Run a 40 series, it's the right height.
Whether or not they fit without rubbing is determined by your wheels offset.
Just out of curiosity who are the dumbass tire employees that are mounting these up without telling you they are quite a bit larger in diameter than stock?

They might, but they might not. Typically the offset will be printed on the backside of the wheel spokes, it will have an et in front of the number (et42, etc.). Look for a 38-42mm offset in the 8" width (you can't go narrower than 8" for a 245/40r17).

No problem, I work at a tire shop so I'm used to these things. Do double check the clearance to your upper arm, I've only done 245s on a 2G once. They were SO-3s though, which tend to have a wide shoulder.

I'm running Falken Azenis's 245/45/17's and the back do rub...but all I need to do is roll the fender...then all is good. As far as offset try to get close to 40 on an 8" rim like the guy above me said...the offset on my rims is 38.

I got Bridgestone SO3's , 225/45/17's i think...they're fat ass tires, but i had to put coilovers on my car because i had eibach 1.8'' drop on my car and it was so low and my offset is so great i would grind the wheel wells like nothin else. So i raised it for now until i get a different offset rim...i bought my car used and the dumbass kid put Nissan 300zx rims on my 97 GST and told me they were just fine

Has anyone seen 245's with 17" wheels on 1g? What should the offset and profile be? I'm thinking 35 offset with 8" wheel. I'd want 245's in the front and I'll settle for 225's in the rear. 225/45/17 in rear for sure. Anyone has a similar setup?

you can help yourself a lot if you go to tirerack.com that way you can search by tire size after finding the tire that u like click on it and find out all the information you want (tire width, height, and suggested rim dia.) i am running 225/45/18 on 7.5 in rims and i could have run 245's with rim spacers

Why does Tirerack suck? I've dealt with them a number of times and had very good experiences.

I agree with the spacers, not a good thing to run unless you're truly desperate to make wheels fit :)

I want 17x8 wheels with 35mm offset. I doubt tirerack have them. Limited styles too. I don't remember if they list their offsets, and they don't have weights of wheels. No centerbore information. I just don't like the lack of information factor. Just a personal preference I guess.

Ah, yes. If you want to go that route, you need to call them. The website is great for finding things that fit if you don't know much about wheels though. They automatically add the correct centerbore adapters for the wheels when you order. Not as big a selection as I would like either (for wheels or tires).

Tirerack is extremely conservative on what they say will fit.

I run 245s on a 8" rim with a 38mm offset. It fits fine. Mike at DSS has done it with a 40mm offset.
With a 35mm offset your front tires will stick out a bit.

I like the tires sticking out look. Somewhat aiming for that actually. Don't want them to stick out too much, bearings won't like that. Definitely not more than 35mm offset.
Do you run 245's on 1g? This is going to be on 1g FWD. (My Laser)
Will it be possible to lower the car any at the same time? I'm looking at no more than 1" - 1.5" lowered.
What profile should I run with 245's on 17" wheel?
