I have been researching some things for an upgrade to the suspension on a 1G AWD. I have seen a number of vr-4 guys, and some on this forum who have adapted the Evolution VIII and IX suspension...I saw that the compressed length of a factory replacement strut for the 1G AWD is 10.3", and I saw that the bilstein from the MR is listed as 13.3" compressed length. Anyone have any issues with the shock bottoming out on a lowered vehicle?

When I installed the MR Bilsteins I had 2" of bump and 4" rebound travel at a 13.5" fender height. With bumpstops installed I had less than 1" of bump before the bumpstops engaged. By modifying the coil overs I gained .5", someday I'll need to rework the strut ears to gain more bump. Similar situation in the rear, there I cut the upper shock mount and added 1.5" of pipe, this got me to 3" bump/3" rebound.
