I need to install brake pads on my 95 rs. Does anyone have a how too on this. I have never done brakes before, but i pretty sure i can do it. i just need a little help. It's not a big brake set up just pads. I seached vfaq and could not find what i was looking for.

GO get a Chiltons or Haynes manual. It explains it all in there. Well worth the $12.

Yep thats the one.

Tell ya what. I'm gonna be in Nashville/ M'Boro area on the 16th of April.. I'll do'em for ya or show ya.. Hell I'll give ya my Chiltons

Its fairly simple..remove wheel...remove the 2 bolts that hold the caliper..remove caliper and then you can remove the old pads...and install new ones...but then you need a C- clamp to push the piston down in the caliper so it can go over the new pads...and then thats it....if you are going to take the rotors to get turned..(recommended) then remove to more bolt for the caliper bracket and then you can remove the rotor..its so easy man..just try....:thumb:

Assuming you have disks front and rear.

You only need to remove the lower bolt (torque to 54 ft lbs on install) and rotate the caliper up off the pads sitting in the bracket. Then you can compress the piston and replace the old pads. Watch to make sure you don't overflow the brake fluid reservoir when you compress the pistons Don't wipe the grease off the pin or get it dirty.

I would add, grease the backs of the pads before attaching the backing shims, apply a little grease to the shims the pads slide on in the brackets.

Clean the rotors with brake cleaner and be carefull not to get any grease on the fron of the pads. slide the caliper back down over the pads, install the pin and torque it.

I always flush the fluid when I change pads.

I found the book at work to day. Its 23.50 at Barnes & Noble. I guess i will just order it online. I do most the work on my car, but when comes to stopping my car I get a little worried. I'm scared i will mess it up. What do you think about Axxis metal master pads are they any good. My father in law got them for me for 35.00$. I thought that was a good deal.
