This is for all the people that want to fit bigger tires on their car.. It may stick out but it does not rub. I have 1/2 an inch if not more away from the control arm. Once I get smaller spacers it should not stick out as much. I believe a 255/50/16 will fit as well. Also I have a pro kit drop(about 1.3in).

Here is a pic of my rx7 rim. Painted it myself, not the greatest, but good until I powder coat it.

Just a shot of the car. Not with new tires.

I just wanted to make sure the other pictures worked.. Here are a few shots of the new tires. Well only one, since I'm waiting for the other one to come in.. They sent the tires seperately.

Can't wait to put on the other tire to see how well these will grip.. Maybe I'll be able to WOT in first gear now.

im very interested in the results :) im buying some 16x8 wheels with spacers, i planned on getting 245/45/16s but was really worried about them fitting, i dont mind them sticking out though.

What thickness spacers did you use?

Its kind of ghetto right now, but I have 3 spacers on that wheel. 2 1/4in spacers and one 7/16, so thats about an inch right there. I plan to raise the car a little more in the front and take out one 1/4in spacer and just drive it with 2 spacers for now. And from most people I've talked to 245/45/16 should not stick out with the correct wheel offset. It also depends if the car is lowered as well. Good luck though.

I just put on the other tire and I used a 7/16 and a 5/16 spacer and it fits. I think I can use a 1/4in instead of a 5/16 so it does not stick out as much. I havent driven the car yet, but when I turn the wheel lock to lock I do not hear anything or feel any resistance on the steering wheel. Is it safe to say that the tires are definetly not rubbing?

what size are those rims.

16x8... I was able to use a 7/16 and a 1/4in spacer and it does not rub, atleast noticably.. It is VERY close to the control arm, so I will pull the wheel off and check the tire in about a week

well looks like im going to order those same tires tommorow, 245/50/16, hopefully they will fit, ive got 16x8 wheels. they stick out of the wheelwells without spacers.... i have a 1g with sportline springs however.... 1.8-2" drop i think

What sticks out of the wheel wells without spacers? What size tires do you have? I know with a 2g you wont be able to fit the 245/50/16s on with that kind of drop with out bigger than 15mm spacers and might have to raise the car a little. And if you run 15mm spacers and bigger, you will need longer wheel studs.

what size spacers would you suggest with a 225 wheel on a 1g with the same rims and a pro kit?

A 7/16 at the largest should work, but you might not need any at all. There is a conversation at DSMtalk about Rx7 wheels with 225/50 tires. I do not know if it is any different for an AWD 1g, but you might want to make sure it will still fit. Any spacer larger than a 7/16 and you'll be better off with longer wheel studs. You will want to make sure when parked the wheels do not rub when you turn it left and right, lock to lock. You also want to make sure it does not rub while your driving if your suspension is not stiff because the tire could hit the suspension on bumps or anything that would make the suspension travel. Here is the conversation. Rx7 wheels
