bigggggg problem with shocks & spring Please read....

ok i did my suspension today..i installed tokicos and eibach sportlines...the back ones were a peace of cake...when it came to the front it was a pain in the ass...well when i finshed i took it for a ride to auto zone to bring back the spring compressor...all sundently my car started to make funny sounds i parked and started to push in the hood and it was hitting something so i popped the hood and my shocks where out...the top of the shocks were hitting my hood.. i dont know what the hell happend...has this ever happend to anyone??? please help

I'm not sure on Tokicos...but I believe the strut shaft should have a nut on top, and below the strut tower mount there should be a flat "washer" for lack of a better term, so that the strut piston does not just push through the strut tower mount. The "Washer" should rest on the "step" of the strut piston. I could be wayyyy off here but that is the attachment point I would start looking at. I would also check the back too....it might have the same problem. Take the hood off when you test drive it just in case. That leaves a nice set of dimples on the hood if they pass through, or you'll be the only guy driving around town with metal poles sticking out through the hood...

make sure you have your shock sitting down far enough on the piece of metal that surrounds it. It should go through it and not sit on the top of it. (kinda hard to explain).

are your springs used?

did you put all the stock parts onthe the new setup? Ie bump stop and the metal topped springy cover thing?

no everything is brand new...i used all the parts...but today i took it to a guy that works at the place where i get my parts and hes working on it now....
