I read the thread entitled "Tires .... which are best ?" However, it seems like a lot of people on these forums prefer the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s. How much better are the Sumtiomos? Which is better in the rain/snow? What is better about the Sumtiomos; is it the grip, the strong sidewalls, or what?

I serioulsy cant say anything aboput the difference between the two but I had Sumitomo's on my Spyder all summer and I loved them! They were quiet..rolled nicely...good grip and all.I really enjoyed them !

I've got the Sumitomo's myself. I really enjoy them. Grip alot better than the stock goodyear eagles that came on the GSX wheels I bought, they're softer so they are going to wear quicker than stock. But tires are the best suspension/braking upgrade you can make.

How are the Sumitomos in the rain? I know they're better than stock tires, but how do they compare to other aftermarket tires in the same price range?

I have my second set of Sumitomo HTZ II tires on my '97 GSX and still love them. On the AWD DSM they are particularly great. They are quiet, sticky and fantastic in the rain. The size I use is 235/45-27 on 8" wide rims.:)

Sticky is definitely what I want. Good traction tires + AWD = hard to lose control. Rain performance is important too. I like to be able to drive the same while it's raining.
