Ok my new 90's rear drivers side rotor(I know thats what it is, cause I step on the brake and it goes away)is clicking and clacking like crazy as I drive down the road, its so annoying and it drives me nuts. My 91 used to do the same thing and I have no clue what I did to get rid of it, its been a while.

I took the wheel off and started grabbing and shaking everything I could to get it to make the sound but nothing. Oh and its got a broken caliper bolt in it, so I just put the tire back on and said eff it, thats another day.

So I know lots of other people have had this problem, but has anyone came up with a cause and effect/solution for it? I cant stand it and I need to do somethign about it.

Actually, a sound that goes away when you apply the brakes does not have to be brake-related. When the brakes are applied, the brakes also prevent the hub from moving in and out (as much), so it could also be a wheel bearing.

well I thought that too, but I shook that rear rotor and everything with all I had, youd think if there was any play with the bearing Id have gotten a sample of it at the time.

Im kinda thinking the brake pads are flopping around in there, or something to do with the rotor, pads, or caliper. All of which I cant figure out until I get the bolt out of the caliper :(

Well to check for that, jack that side up till the wheels off the ground. Grab the wheel at 12 o clock and 6 o clock and try to wiggle it. If there's any play the bearing is going. Not something to drive around with.
