weird problem with my pass front brake. it basically seems like its wearing wht wrong way. i have brembo slotted rotors and you can see the brake dust in the slots which you dont see on the other rotors... also my rotors a painted red and that pass front rotor seems to be the only one that loses color and looks like crap and changing colors. sometimes it does smell and the rotors get red. i also have hawk brake pads and im thinking i might have got the wrong ones because i guess the awd and fwd have a different model # for the front pads and i think the auto parts store may have given me the fwd pads? even if they were the wrong pads wouldnt that affect both front brakes? im just alittle confused on whats going on. any suggestions???

thanks

kevin

Possibly you are getting a caliper that may be getting stuck when ever you press the brakes. If you have another caliper try it. See if you can get another like from somebody or autozone and if that don't help you can always take it back. With this way atleast you know its not freezing up on you.

so could it be the master cylinder? im not too good as far as bleeding brakes and going through all this stuff. i did install the stainless steel brake lines, brembo rotors, and hawk pads with the help of my buddy who is a bmw tech.

It's a proccess of elimination.

If it's only your right front, please focus on that corner. I wrote an (entirely too long :shhh: ) post in that other thread about how to narrow it down. Just pick out the relevant parts from that errr, umm, dissertation...and apply it to your issue.

My 90 gsx would do the same thing. At first it was just the caliper carrier bores were worn from being run unlubricated. A used caliper carrier and lubricating the pins made it happy for a pad change or two....

Then the caliper piston siezed..

Rebuilding a set of 2-piston calipers, and a set of good caliper carriers and new slider pins made it happy for 100k miles.

And then I had a hose collapse....so on went some stainless lines..

And it's been trouble free ever since.

Please don't replace parts without troubleshooting the problem fully first.

A bad/misadjusted master cylinder will affect all four wheels.

it seems like the pad is scratching the rotor on that side. i think i will replace the caliper good or bad idea? auto zone has the oem caliper for $50 with core exchange. i dont know what to do about the rotor being scratch either and ill prob have to replace the front pads now....

just ordered a new caliper and ebc green stuff brake pads.... hopefully that will solve the problem...

Can you cancel the order? EBC Greens have terrible feel. They can take a bunch of heat, sure, but the feel was so vague. Porterfield R4-Ss are so much better ... at least, in my opinion.
