Which size is best? 18x8.5 30mm or 18x8 48mm...what would be the best tire size? 225 40 18?

I dont want my wheels to look too far in the body...I like them to sit just right at the fender...thanks!

With +48 offset you could get by with 225/40/18 tires. Anything wider would require spacers.

Why don't you look for a wheel with an offset closer to +40mm?

I have an 8" rim with +45 offset, and 225's. Without spacers, there is barely a pinkie clearance between the tire and the inner arm (mind you a small pinkie ;) ). I'm using 5mm spacers now and there is enough room now for when I go to 235's or maybe 245's. I'd agree , neither of those offsets are good.
