About 4 months ago I put on the tokico hp suspension kit for my 97 eclipse.
The kit came with the shocks and the springs. 1.5" drop front and 1.5"drop rear.
Well things didn't work out that way. The car is .25" lower on the driver sie than the passenger side. I've heard it's a common problem with 2g's but it's irritating to me even though nobody notices the uneven drop but me. I have looked around and found out that sagging springs could be the problem. I wanted to know if changing springs to one of the following might help. I guess I want to go lower that 1.5" now.

I am considering the following alternatives.
Which ones are least likely to sag?

Sprint Springs 1.5" f&r (?)
H&R Springs 1.6" f&r (?)
GC coilovers 0-3" drop
Eibach Sportlines 1.6" f&r
Intrax Springs 1.8" f 1.7" r

put 5-10 lbs more air in the left side tires and save the money. :p

i myself like eibach, but i am 1 man :p

If you think the one or both left-side springs are sagging, then flip the springs left to right. I am quite confident you will find that the car still lists to the left and sagging had nothing to do with it. But my experiment will cost you time, instead of money, so it is classic DSM advice.

As to mismatching the tire pressures: if you were serious, then please don't post again; if you were joking, then please don't include "I am not joking" because some people reading this might not get it.

So is there any reason you think the car might lean to the left?

When my wife bought her 98 gst it had coilovers that had beat the sh$t out of the car until we replaced them with the same tokico HP setup. Her car also sits a bit lower on the drivers side. I don't think it is the springs in our case, but maybe damage done to the mount under the hood. I had thought about pulling the strut back off and beating the mount back down, but that is a lot of work for something that has thus far been only cosmetic.

ok, to keep myself out of trouble, heres what you need to do.

1. inflat the tire to the proper psi (go off what the tire says)
2. find a nice flat area to park the car on.
3. place ## knee on the front bumper and "bounce the front end and rear end of the car a few time. Do not get back in it or have anyone in it at this time.
4. get the tape measure out and measure all 4 corners, so at the drside frnt tire measure from the ground to the top of the wheel well ( repeat all the way around) and compare the measurements.

a 1/4" difference might be the shocks/springs settling, my 01 focus does it to after i drive it too.

There was a cheaper solution. :)
The uneven height go on my nerves so I went to pep boys and got some coil spring boosters and cut them in half and fixed the .25" difference of height. I hope they stay in place. :)

"Why does my car seem to lean to the left?
They just do. Conjecture on this subject has been wide and varied for many years, but nobody has quite been able to finger the exact reason. The best theory thus far is that the lean is caused by the engine and driver being on the left-hand side. Nobody has complained thus far that it affects any part of the ride quality of the car, although a few people have commented that the right rear of the car tends to rattle a bit more. This may be because the lower left front tends to unload the right rear suspension slightly.

(Please note that this is the original unkillable thread, and not very interesting. Resist the temptation to reopen the question.)"

Or, They All Do That.

Got a new set of Eibach Pro's and KYB/GR-2's. Had a shop install the springs/KYB-GR-2's. Well one side of the car was 3/4" higher. Removed the strut/spring that had the most distance between the tire and fender but it looks to be OK with the angles of the spring pads. I will bring back to the shop this morning. Is there something we could have missed? Thanks, Mark

Make sure the springs are the same and that you don't have a sportline or something thrown in with your pro-kit springs.

Well we switched the struts/springs from side to side and STILL the drivers side is lower! Spoke to Brent at DSMotorsport and he said it was somewhat normal with more weight of the engine/transfer case, etc. being on the drivers side. Could be as I did not check before and after. We have the rears off now and should have them done by the weekend. One old shock bushing stuck to the splidle so I will need to use lots of PB blaster and possibly some heat to get it removed. Thanks, Mark. I will advise any changes.
