Kumho Ecsta 712's or Yokohama AVS ES100??

I was looking too at the Ecsta MX's but I then found out they have a significantly worse treadwear as compared to the 712's, 220 vs. 280. In addition to that, the MX's are a tad more loot.

These were the final two candidates in my recent tire shopping, too. I went with the Yokohamas and have been very happy with them. I got the stock size, though-- 205-55-16.

How are the Yoko's on wet surfaces. I have A520's now which aren't too bad in dry, but the slightest moisture and my AWD is put to it's knees...

I've actually been more impressed with their wet traction than the dry. The dry grip isn't bad, but the wet grip is great. I've only had them in two significant rain showers, but I've not been disappointed. Once I braked pretty hard from about 60MPH just to test them (well, as hard as I could with the wife in the car, hehe) and they didn't lose traction at all. I haven't even come close to hydroplaning yet, either. Which is good, because hydroplaning is scary-- I did it once and wound up in the median. Underwear changing ensued.
