hey there. I just bought myself a 95 Tsi awd, and it came with some modifications, including eibach springs and KYB shocks. Im assuming the springs are cut, since the car has 3 inches of clearance max. This is simply too low for me, and i tagged the bumper twice and exhaust once just on my short test drive, because the back roads around here arent that smooth. my question is what would be the most cost effective way to raise this car? another pair of un-cut springs? or coilovers (skunk2 or GC, im on a budget). This car wont see track use, but it will be my daily driver come the spring season, and spirited backroad driving is what im all about, so i need to gain atleast another inch or maybe more in ground clearance.

I live in Torrington. What's your name? odds are we know each other. I've been in the dsm field forever. I've got a silver 99 gst, and a 92 talon you may have seen. Anyways, i would suggest putting your springs on dsmtrader for sale or trade. Unfortunately the kyb's don't handle being lowered more then 1.5" very well and tend to blow out. I would suggest a set eibach pro kits with koni yellows. or just run an un-cut set of eibachs on the kyb's till they go.

hey man, nice to meet a neighbor. My name is Pete. not sure if i know you since i only know one person with a talon, but who knows. thanks for the advice, my budget will probably only allow me to get a new set of eibachs. how can i tell if my shocks are blown? the shocks on my jetta are blown and i can tell, but on such a slammed car its harder. ride was really firm though so im assuming its ok. also on an unrelated note, do you know of any good dsm mechanics/speacialists in the area? id like to get this car professionaly tuned since it has an AFC but is currentley tuned without the use of a logger. or maybe its something you could help me with? Im very new to the DSM world and dont know much in terms of working on cars, but im eager to learn and do as much work of my own as i can.

I wouldnt highly suggest higher the car up. I once purchased the tein lowering spring. The price was excellent. They were a small drop but still made the car sit good. Camber in the back was minimal and the ride was excellent. They were also only paired with the KYB's.

Also, if the car has been lowered for more then 3 months your shock are shoot. Stock struts can't take the beating of the eibach lowering springs.

The shocks will go bad because the valveing inside gets pounded to death by being over compressed over and over and over again, or something like that. The kyb shock body is the same length as the oem one so it's somewhat like lowering the car on stock struts albeit the kyb have a better bound and rebound characteristics then your stock ones. By better I mean they are stiffer and can better handle the increased spring rates of aftermarket springs

there are a few places in the area. most are pretty expensive, I’m also tuning with a safc and a logger. I have a friend with a dyno near Avon. A group of us are going to be going there in a few weeks to do some tuning,... you're welcome to come, we are getting a discount due to the size of the group.... it's a chassis dyno so you would have to do the temp. two wheel conversion, I’ve forgotten how it’s done, but I think there are a bunch of threads about it on here.
I’ll pm you with some specifics if you like
