I wanted to get the ADR M-sport wheel 18x8.5 with 35mm offset. And some Toyo Proxy 4's at 235/40/18. Will these fit on my 97 GSX? Thanks.

I would love to but they don't make that size wheel. They only make an 18x8.5 35mm.

So does anybody know if they will fit? Or any suggestions? Or just don't bother getting those particular rims?

um let me tell you what I have and you can go from there first off I have 18x8 falken torque 5's with 225/40/18 toyo proxes 4's with a 35 mm offset and it wasn't worth the trouble that I went through. Of course my car is lowered with just the eibach prokit and kyb agx's, but i'm assuming yours would be lowered too. but anyways on the rear i had to take a die grinder to the rear fenders and pretty much take the whole lip of the fender off just to get them to stop rubbing. And on the front i did not have to do a thing at all and it has not rubbed once! Don't get me wrong though the way the wheels sit perfectly flush with the side of car looks awesome! :thumb:

They'll fit, though 40mm offset would be better. You will rub the fender if you go too low. I have the M-Classics.

What are the exact size of your tire and wheel combo? Because those classics seem to fit perfectly on your car.

18 x 8.5 +40mm offset wheels. 245/40/18 Falken ST115 tires.

Anyone reading this with the plan of copying ... stop right now. The weld that is part of the fender lip happens to hold two pieces of the unibody together. Do not cut this out! Roll it up out of the way, maybe even making a few slit so the job is easier, but do not remove any part of the weld.

I have had mine cut out for 2+ months with no issues. I personally know another guy who has had his cut out for 6+ months with no issue. He cut it out on this car because on his last DSM he tried the rolling thing with the bat and it tore up his paint pretty bad. Not to say you can't roll the fender without tearing up the paint, but you definitely need to be really careful. I also found a post on the dsm auto-x message board of a guy who has had his cut out for 2+ years with no issue.

I will say that I talked to 3 body shop guys who all said it was a bad idea. I don't see what the big deal is though. As long as it continues to look nice and not distort at all. I suppose if you got in a wreck it would get more torn up back there, but that's not where I sit.

If I ever got my car painted, I would get those pieces welded back together first.

So will the 35mm sit more to the inside of the wheel well or stick out more? Because yours seem to be pretty flush.

They will stick out 5mm more. This is less than a quarter of an inch. Visually it won't make too much difference but it will interfere with your wheel tuckage if you are lowered. Mine barely graze the fender over hard bumps.

Ok. I am getting the Tein SS coilovers. With the minimum drop do you think I'll be ok.

"Think" is the operative term here. I "think" with the right brand of tire (I don't know about Toyos) and Teins at max height with stiff springs, you would be okay. I also "think" that for the amount of money you are going to shell out you shouldn't settle for something that may give you problems.

Ill try to look for the site, but theres a white 2g using 17x9 35mm 5zigen fn01r-c with a 255/40/17, also Spicytuna is using 18x8 Enkei RPM2's with a35mm offset and using a 245 series tire. So with a stock supension id say your 18x8.5 w/35mm offset with the 235s will fit. When you lower the car thats when you run into problems like rolling the fender and running some negative camber

about grinding the fender and the welds first off I did try rolling the fender and that got me absolutly nowhere near enough clearance so that is why i resorted to grinding and I did not grind through the welds I only grinded halfway through them and from the looks of everything it seems to be just the same as it was before.
