First off, I really like the white car/bronze or gold rim setup you have going on. Looks great. Now to your question; The reason why your car looks like its back at stock height lies within your tires. Your stock tires (205/55/16) have an overall rolling diameter of 24.9 inches. Your new tire has the same width but less sidewall height and therefore only has a rolling diameter of 23.5 inches. This means your overall tire is now 1.4 inches smaller than before. With this tire now being smaller you now have a .7 inch larger gab between the top of your tire and the fender. Obviously this will make your car look higher than it would be. Not only is this not very visually attractive but also throws off your speedometer and mileage. With your current setup, when you speedo shows 60mph, you are actually travelling 56.6mph. Furthermore, your miles will rack up alot quicker than they normally would. You can get your speedo recalibrated to match the new tire size, but that is not a long term solution. Do yourself a favor and go out and buy a real set of tires with a size of 225/45/17 which matches stock specifications the closest. For more information on tire sizes and such refer to: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html In short, with the larger tires your fenders will be filled out better and look about an inch lower than it does now. Also, the 40 ratio tires are pretty thin and the ride is harsher than necessary.... Good luck!

Your tire size certainly doesn't help. 225/45/17's would fill in almost an inch of that gap. Come on, we talk about this stuff every day.

205's on a 7.5" wheel? Man, are you into the Hippari (stretched) look or something?

thats what i was going to say :p nice post

Wow 7.5 inch rims with a 205 tire! You think thats good for about .2 to .5 of a inch in over all height? When you stretch a tire you lose over all height.

Man, you should have 225/45 or 235/40 that would decrease wheel gap and soften up the ride but still look very low pro.

No matter how much you lower a first gen, the fronts always look like they are not low anuff.

Just a thought. You have the width now as the girls say, use it!
