I believe you have a rather good idea here. How far along are you in the thought process? Have you recieved info on the track rental/insurance etc.....? The track in San Antonio is a pretty decent place, and I think it would be a good start. If there is anything I can be of assistance with please let me know.

Jorge and I briefly discussed this last week and I told him the DSM community would show up. With the amount of people we had at our last meet (the hooter's one) we should have no problem getting more people to come to this one.

Plus it will be held at the track which I think more of you want anyways. And with it being in the middle of this coming year people will have plenty of time to plan ahead especially if they are coming from another city. And some of us will have time to get our cars running or new parts put on! ROFL

Sounds like a good idea from what I talked to you about Jorge.

Like Chris said, the Hooters meet we had had a very good turnout and it wasn't planned to well.
I would say try and get a set date as fast as possible so people can plan around that date. I've already posted this on other local dsm forums.....

Thanks for the support everyone. I will post up new info as I get it and the set date as soon as I possibly can.

Have a great and safe new years everyone!

Sounds like a great idea! We will need to keep this thread clear of non related conversations also...

We should also see about renting the track, if we can ensure a huge turnout, shouldn't cost too much per person. And we should pick an initial meet location, preferably on I-35 since most/all people will be coming from up north. Of course, we should post a LEGIT ad on regional forums, craigslist, other dsm forums, etc...

All of this should only be done AFTER we choose a date, time, location, plan, and price, to avoid confusion... This will be the official planning/discussion thread. I'm willing to make phone calls to help out as well.

Let me know!!

That's the plan homie, renting the track for the day and have all of TX's Mitsu's run wild @ SAR.

If this event is to take place, what classes are you going to have? Is it going to be separated by power adders and size limit on turbo? Are the safety rules going to be strict, like if your car runs faster then xx times your car must have cage, shoot, etc? In my opinion the rules should be more like or close to what Texas supra meet uses. lenient, Then more people will show. Well at least one more, Me :D

Once I get with the track and see what rules they are going to enforce or be lenient with..I'll post up that info!

I understand there will be a lot of fast street cars coming out, but SAR may just say we have to follow their guidelines of 11.49 faster you need roll bar, 10.99 you need a cage, etc etc. If that's the case we just need to bite the bullet and comply. I'll have a simple bolt in cage just to comply. I'll post up the details as I get them worked out!

As far as classes, I'm seeing keeping it pretty simple. We'll see..that's something we can discuss as time goes on.

No way are we forgetting the Dallas/Houston/Waco/etc Mitsu's...they have to come down too!!!

Is there any official vendors in the area (to get them to post in the vendor announcements). Or, better yet, sponsor the event, like the Dallas meet was sponsored by STM (I think...) Carlos may be able to help us out w/ STM. But whatever vendors are willing to pitch in would be great.

If we decide on Hooters (or whatever restaurant), we'll need to reserve a massive section, and also see about using the parking lot we used last meet, it will be during the day, so it may be an issue...

Also, what about dividing the responsibility/to-do list. Most of us are willing to do our share. We can divide it up, such as:

Track arrangements:

Meet Location/Arrangements:

Driving/Cruise Route/Location:

Vendors/ Vendor Allocation:

etc.etc.etc.

If I'm understanding correct, the ENTIRE event will be at the track Matt. We won't be meeting up at a restauraunt and then heading out to the track.

This will be similar to the "Dsm Shootout" held in Ohio, but this will be the "Texas Mitsu Shootout" I guess you can call it.

I will talk to STM and a couple of other vendors once Jorge has more info that I can give them

Bingo..hit the nail on the head. The plan is to have the whole deal go down @ the track, one big :dsm: event.

I'll be posting up fresh info as I get it!

As it stands right now. Looks like the Texas Mitsubishi Shootout will be taking place on Saturday, June 20th Event hours will be from 3pm till midnight @ the San Antonio Raceway.

I'm working on vendors and will post them up as they commit as well as competing categories.

So far this is the tentative date, if by chance there is a change, it will be for an early July Saturday. But so far It's looking like June 20th :dsm:

So pass the word along, get those DSM's ready and let's get on track to make this a huge successful event!
