Are there any DSM shops in Louisiana? My car is running like dog crap and just keeps falling on it's face. I can barely drive it daily. It keeps backfiring and shooting out tons of black smoke when it does that. The boost keeps creeping up when it does. I've checked and checked and checked for boost leaks and I cannot find any. Does anyone know of a shop that can help me?

oh snap bro... we need to do some troubleshooting. have you checked timing yet? that is a big contributor to your problem. you may a have jumped a tooth or so due to worn timing belt or something of that nature. just in case that is the issue, do not drive. no need for bent valves...

My bad man, I just realized you posted this a while back. Did you find anything yet?

Not a thing. Timing is good. That was one of the first things I checked, along with boost leak and the plugs and wires are all brand new (gapped to .28). I think my turbo seals might be bad. Or worse, blown 14b....Oh, and work on your grammar, it's a big thing here.

Look guy, i know about the grammar policies on this site. I've been here for a while and have laughed at the other tards who can't type. I don't think mines terrible but, then again, I am no English Major. You are the first to think so in 6 years.

Now, with that said, you are looking for help in the local area, correct? I'm trying to help but i don't take negative critisizms as a sign of appreciation.

Is the problem occuring under boost only? If so, it may in fact be your turbo. Is it a backfire or a stutter/hesitation that you're feeling. I've blown my turbo too and it's more of a misfire feeling than a backfire. I did manage to spew white smoke(synthetic), only under boost though.

Okay you can get mad because I said something about the fact that you did not capitalize a few words, but that is kind of immature to get mad about. Just don't worry about it. I'll figure it out on my own. Thanks for trying.

Way to ask for help with the worst description of your problem ever, then tell the only person who wants to help to "watch their grammar." You say your car barely runs but your still boosting it?!?! LOL ...ricer. You said you checked timing, did you pull the covers off and check the marks or did you use a timing light? Because if you used a timing light you're an idiot. When your turbo dies, you can hear it, and it will get to the point of not building any boost, in turn your car will be running really rich under throttle and run like crap. But you know what! Pull the damn intake off and check the turbo... Pretty simple.

+1. You have a funny way of asking for help. Good luck anyway. Wannarace, you are a good dude because you still offered help.

Okay well let's get something straight.

1. I was not asking for you guys to help FIX my problem, merely describing it so as one could get the best feel for what kind of specialty shop I would need to go to.
2. Grammar is in the forum rules, I believe that anyone that does not follow that rule should be made aware of their errors.
3. From now on, if you do not have any information on a local shop that can help me solve my problem, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME REPLYING.

I AM LOOKING FOR THE NAME OF A SHOP TO HELP ME SOLVE MY PROBLEM, not help troubleshooting it.

As for you, haha ricer?! Name calling is also against forum rules. My car runs. Is it running at an optimum level? No. We lined it up with the marks on the gears. This is my third DSM and I know it's not a big block that I can take a timing light and shoot at. The car is experiencing boost creep as it hits higher rpms, that is why I thought it was a boost leak at first, but I cannot find any after using my BLT.
As I just stated, if you do not have any information on a local shop, do not post on this thread.

Hello, first I wanted to say try checking your fuel controller or tune.

Second, I know of a shop in Metairie by causeway and metairie road called DPR automotive. I know a guy there who knows imports/turbos and besides, there's always nice cars over there being worked on (sti's, evos, and even 2 skylines that they own). I'm pretty sure they're DSM friendly, though those are rare around here. Look them up and give 'em a call.

Post back after to let us know if they can help you please. Good luck.

I would like to thank you for being the first person to actually give me a helpful answer to my question. I actually pulled the CEL codes and the air/fuel controller was one of the two (the egr being the other, which I removed). Would you happen to know where that sensor is?

As for the shop, if I can't figure it out I will give them a call.

Thank You!

Well then, if that's all you wanted to know, I could have supplied you with a few shops. You specifically asked for a DSM Shop. Why you didn't get an answer, from us, is because there aren't any in Louisiana. Most won't touch a modified DSM. There are 2 shops here in Lafayette that could have helped you out.

P.S. Get Chilton's

we got a guy that has fixed several modified DSM's which we dont want to touch. lmk if you want his info.

Well I guess what I was THINKING was a DSM friendly shop, my apologies. I just did not want to drop my car off at big block shop USA and come back to find it in pieces and them say "Oh I don't know what's wrong with this thing."

I have a chiltons manual but the troubleshooting section can only help so much. I did fix a small boost leak and found another one at my j-pipe. Also, my map sensor has seen better days. The nipple for the vacuum line is completely broken off, and the previous owner tried jb welding it back:notgood:. I think the white smoke at idle might be my valve guide seals, because after I fixed the boost leaks the car ran much better. I was also told my FMIC was way to big for the 14b and that it could cause a small amount of boost creep and turbo lag, so I'm not too worried about that now.

I pulled the CEL code and found one that was not there before. One about the air/fuel mang. Could that be the reason for my car running rich? If so, does anyone know where this sensor is so that I can replace it.

I take it that "mang." = management. How do you know your car is running rich. I looked at your mods but looks like you still have a stock setup. really the only things that affect A/F is your MAF-S (tells the computer how much air is comming in) and the O2 sensor (tells the computer to back off or add more fuel). Now, I do think that the CAS has some part in it as well. I believe the fuel map changes according to RPM.

Appology accepted...!

For future reference. There is AMS (Nick) and High End (Daniel) both here in Lafayette. Nick works more on Honda's and even has a DSM. High End, well take that litterally. They work some badd @$$ cars there.

The car has to be some kind of rich because it's becoming a pain trying to keep the black off my entire back bumper. That and the fact that I can smell the gas at times. In my search for boost leaks I found a ghetto rigged MAP sensor. Would that have anything to do with it?

As for the shops, thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for!

Our cars run rich. unless you add some form of piggyback to controll your injectors, you will run rich.

From what i just looked up on the MAP or MDP sensor is yes, it could cause problems. it needs to be tee'ed in with a vaccum line and sealed really well. Saying that assuming that the sensor you're talking about is on the manifold.

Sounds like a good start for a possible solution... I'd say. Just make sure when finished, you have it tee'ed in line with a manifold pressure source (ie... FPR)

Should be good. Now, you say it's just hanging between the block and manifold? I'm not sure where it goes, unless you do, check the manual to find out where.

My car is about to take a sh*t big time. Sorry if I'm hacking the thread but, Jake do you know of any shops that will do a timing belt. I'd need my car back within 2 days tops.
