I have been studying the vfaqs site about the fuel pump relay mod, but i am not sure about some of his wording. not saying its not correct, i just am not following a certain step very well. but this is what i have so far.

this is copied off vfaqs

Pin -30 Use 10 Gauge wire. Goes to the battery. (Red Wire)
Pin -87 - I used 12 gauge for less drop. This goes to the Fuel Pump.(Blue Wire)
Pin -86 - I used 14 gauge. This goes to the car. It is a relay wire.(Yellow Wire)
Pin -85 - I used 14 gauge. This is grounded to the car's chassis.(Yellow Wire with added Black via Marker)

so i guess , from pin 87 goes straight to pump either spliced to harness plug black wire with white strip or straight to pump, i am probably going to go straight to pump on that one.

then it seems pin 30 goes straight to battery and it should be 30 amp fuse 1 foot from the pump?

then pin 85 gets grounded. simple enough even for me haha.

but main thing i'm not clear on is what pin 86 goes to, vfaqs says "to the car?" and that's all it really says about that so does that mean 86 goes to the yellow wire on the factory harness plug or is he saying the yellow pin 86 wire goes somewerel else?

Thanks in advance for any advice@@@ :hellyeah:

86 goes to the stock fuel pump wire car side 87 splices into same wire fuel pump side . Your fuse should be as close to your battery as possible not way back at the fuel pump.

Thanks for the help! i forgot to mention that the prior owner thought it would be cool to remove the black plug between the pump/sending unit and the car side of the harness and replace it with bullet connectors connecting each wire individually , if the picture up there makes any sense sorry for my lack of art skills haha. so now i have the my main power ran straight from the battery to the relay (fused). and my ground setup. now im not sure about whether 86 or 85 goes to the black with white stripe on the car side of the harness or to the side still connected to the pump lid? or one of the yellow wires on that lid? if any of that made sense im trying really hard to make sense. :aha:

im pretty sure with my setup i have to not use the old power wire since i have the straight 10 gauge wire comming back from the battery to the relay. if that is the case than i am reallly over thinking this!!! :ohdamn:

so i guess it would be battery to Pin 30?
then pin 87 to the pump power wire on the pump housing lid (black with white stripe?
Then 85 and 86 im stumped on to yellow wire with red stripe and yellow with blue stripe. but im not sure my lid can survive being removed so i dont know which one is the fuel level and which is like a signal wire?

Cut the wire after the harness for yellow and yellow blue stripe.Keep the harness connected.Run power and ground, make sure power has an inline fuse, and your done.

got it figured out, it clicked for some reason. but instead of useing a 30 amp fuse link i found a 30 amp inline breaker with big thick threaded studs instead of the inline fuse with the wires on each end.
