I was wondering if anyone knows of an aftermarket tranny for our 4G63s. Whether a transmission as a whole or a gearing set to replace the stock. If someone can help me out it would be appreciated.

Where did u pick up your shep tranny? How much did you pay? I saw the dog box on magnus but didnt really look into it too hard.

For your GST the best trans you could get for your car would be from Shep.

Standard starts at about $800 for a rebuild. He can make it bullet proof for more. I've never heard ONE thing bad about his service. Great turn around too.

DSMs have some incredible options available to them for transmission work.

Team Rip Engineering (TRE):

Been around practically forever, specializing in DSM transmissions. Lots of options available, great customer service (speaking from experience thus far with them).

[email protected]. He races what he builds, and he's been pretty good at setting DSM drag records. ;) Haven't dealt with Shep yet, but seems like a good fellow.

BM Transmission:

Used to be one of "the" places to take your tranny, looks like they merged with Turbotrix recently. One of their claims to fame is their diff insert.

Magnus Motorsports Dogbox transmission:

You can't handle this. ;) No really, you don't need this transmission.

Both Shep, TRE, and BM offer a number of useful upgrades, including a taller first gear, double-synchro 1-2, tougher forks and rails, and upgraded/modified center diffs. TRE's website is probably the most informative of the bunch, listing in excruciating detail what they offer, and when you'd need it.

But your best bet is really just to send one or all of them an email with a description of what you're trying to "fix", and how you use (or plan to use) the car, and let them give you an idea of the kind of upgrades that might be appropriate for you. Tranny modification isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of business, and given your current mods, unless you have bigger plans (your wishlist doesn't list anything), you don't need much more than a stock transmission with maybe a taller first gear, IMHO.
