I am planning on an ACT2100 clutch pretty soon and was wondering if I should stick with the OEM unit or use the ACT NSK built one ( its now a plastic sleeved unit ). Can one handle more power or is either one good?

If the NSK is plastic now, i'm sure either would be fine. Maybe get the OEM if you are worried about it lasting 50k+ miles.

look into AMS for a OEM TOB from mitsubishi. i'd rather just get the oem one rather than the act even if it is now plastic just to be on the safe and down side. have u heard of the feramic clutch that AMS carries? this will probably be a lil cheaper and better for an awd. just my .02 cents

btw, i just ordered mine last week, but isnt in the car yet because i am still waiting for my clutch fork from mach v.

Single disc or twins? I don't know about ceramic disc clutches ( at least not much ). Has anyone used the Hess Power twin clutch? I went to their site but did not find it.

it is a single disk using a feramic type material and uses the stock pressure plate which is a good thing since it really wouldnt put on a huge load of crank pressure as does the act 2600. check out the link, http://www.automotosports.com/dsm_drivetrain.asp, this should tell u more about the clutch. this is the clutch that their fastest running evo is equipped with, so this says alot about the holding power of the feramic clutch.

If you have one of the new ACT T/O bearings that use a plastic inner-sleeve, you should be fine.

It's not really a matter of "longevity" that people tossed the old ACTs in light of a OEM one--it's a matter of the metal-sleeved ACT T/O bearings wearing a groove in the bellhousing sleeve (which the input shaft goes through) and ruining the bellhousing (you can't by the sleeve seperately).
