whats up guys . i recently bought a 97 gsx . my cousin told me that the transfer case goes on u after a few launches . my question is ,is that true? and if so in how long? and what can i do to prevent it?

Uh... don't launch? You have a good, cheap, quick street car. If you want to own an expensive, fast, iffy race car, treat you DSM like one.

Don't launch. It's not what that AWD was put under there for.

You posted this in tech article section... Thread moved.

But your cousin is wrong! Transfer case failure is pretty rare and usually happens after you lock your center diff (like when you weld it or use VCE).

Failing center diff is much more common. But you do not usually have to worry about it until you hit mid to low 12's. Uless you do something stupid...

In any case, it is never an actual number of launches. Some people go for years running 11's on stock center diff. Others brake it in the 13's. A lot of it depends on your luck and driving style.
