I just started having problems with the "lower" gears. (2,4,R) When I go to shift into them it feals like I am pulling against a rubber ball. When I let go it just go to the middle of the console. I can hit 1,3,5 just fine but not the rest. If I hold it back then it will slip into gear btu has no "positive" feeling. I think that perhaps the cable is no good and can be pulled fine, but buckles under the pressure of being pushed. If anyone has had this problem please give me some incite on how you fixed it. Perhaps the tranny is just dead btu I doubt it because it shifted just fine for a long time. The only problem was that it would grind when cold, once it warmed up no problem.

Yeah, that sounds like your cables.

From what I've been able to tell from working on mine, one determines the difference between top and bottom, the other determines the difference between left, middle, and right.

I figured it out this morning. The point were the cable meets the tranny the sheathing broke and the cable was just wobbling there. I was correct in that when I pulled the cable it would work but when I pushed (2,4,R) it would just defelct underpressure. Now I get the joy of installing new cables and adjusting them. :barf:
