just curious

I'm not talkin about personal preference, but I'm wondering if it better for the clutch to engage lower to the floor,

my car just eats up bearing, act and stock. it engages higher up, wonderingif that could be the problem

I just adjusted mine last night after installing a new master cylinder.I did have it adjusted very close to the floor "about 1" ' but had free play at the top of the pedal...Now i adjusted it where it catches about 2 " off the floor to where there was no more free play at the top "when you first push it in" .It feels perfect but as to your question about closer to the floor or not...I go through clutches like crazy too. This is my 4th ACT 2100.The step height on the flywheel was perfect and everything.I guess i will go with the 2600 after this one.

You do realize you need SOME free play at the top, right? If there is none, your pedal will just pump up and you will have clutch problems.

What is the exact definition of free play? The amount of play in the clutch before it starts to grabs? and also how can you be exactly sure of your freeplay?

It needs some slackness at the top of pedal travel.

Mine has about 1" of freeplay at the top. Before it had way too much freeplay and caught at the floor. It feels just right having that little bit of play in there before you push it in.And then catches about 1 and a half inches from the floor.

You can raise the pedal height and still have travel at the top. Do not misunderstand, you NEED travel there on a 2G else you will have problems.

mine catches at the top with about an inch or alittle more of play in the pedal. I think i will adjust mine to the middle just to be safe.
