Hey I've had my Talon for a little more then half a year now and a couple of months ago I burned my clutch pretty bad one day at a car show going up a dirt hill in bumper to bumper traffic. I saw smoke coming out of my engine bay, popped it open and I could see smoke coming from my tranny.

I was thinking of replacing it sometime, not that it's really necessary because I can still drive fine but I just want to make sure that it's up to spec. I thought maybe a ACT2100 because I don't plan to make much power in this car and I don't want the pedal to give me a damn workout. Thing is I heard that changing the clutch increases the chance of getting crankwalk because it puts excess force on the crank or something like that. If so should I just get an OEM disc? I don't know much about trannies so any input would help, thanks.

Strong clutches are pretty much another "might be" cause of thrust bearing failure [crankwalk]. Lots and lots of ACT 2600s are in use out there, and their incidence of walking cranks doesn't seem to be disproportionately higher.
I keep wanting to hear about someone trying a roller bearing thrust bearing setup on a DSM, but apparently things aren't set up for it (space, hardness, sizes, etc).
