Why is it when I drive my car for the first few minutes in the morning, my tranny shifts perfectly no matter at what rpm, but as the car warms up my 3rd gear will grind when I go into it. :( I changed the tranny fluid shortly ago.

that is wierd, i would think it would be vicaversa my trans doesn't like freezing cold it is kind of stiff to shift

i would guess u have a problem with the 3rd gear syncro or the 3-4 shifter fork but i am leaning more towards the syncro

same exact thing happened to mine. The first few minutes when the engine is still cool, the transmission shifts smooth as hell but I don't want to rev a cold engine. And whenever it warms up, It will always grind 3rd. But now that I've changed the oil with some penzoil synchromesh, the 3rd gear grind is totally gone and it shifts just as smooth as a cold engine when I first start up. What kind of transmission oil did you put in it? Maybe you'd want to try something else.

I dunno what your using, but I paid 5$ a bottle for penzoil synchromesh and our tranny's don't take 4 bottles, only 2 bottles and like 1/8th of the 3rd one.

GM Syncromesh "Friction Modified" its BS, dont waste your time or money *ARG* i read over 30 posts of people who said this stuff works. I guess either my syncros are too far gone or i duno what? but thats the last time i pay almost 60$ for fluid.

You can get GM Synchromesh from any Chevy dealer for about 9USD a quart for a total of about 27USD for a fluid change. In my high mileage car, the GM Synchromesh fluid definately improves shifting feel over fresh standard GL-4 fluid. I haven't tried the Pennsoil - maybe next change...
