Ok i noticed a clacking noise coming from my tranny, it doesent do it in gear, only in neutral, and when the clutch is fully pressed in, it goes away.. also, if i dont push the clutch in and pull the shifter towards 2nd a little the clacking gets louder and can be felt in the shifter..

any ideas? my friend and dad suspect the throwout bearing, and i sure hope they are right, but I was just wondering if anyone else had experenced this..

oh yea, aside from the noise, the car goes into all gears and can be driven normally., But im not driving it for now till i find out what the deal is.. gotta put in BMT LSD insert anyway..

wow, so many willing minds:thumb:

well, the tranny is out, and i started taking it apart.. but now im stuck..

the I took off the 2 36mm bolts, and the to gears, removed the 3 bolts springs and balls on the shift rods, and took all the other bolts that hold the cover on off..

the cover comes up about an inch or so.. and then gets hung on SOMETHING... i dont know what.

I followed the VFAq to the T on this operation and now im pretty much ####ED because im all out of ideas and nobody else seems to have any either.

well i got the case apart, 2nd gear had 2 teeth busted off, I ordered a new one, will have it tommorrow

yeah...um...look in the "spider gears" where the cv axles splug in there is a bushing there that in some 2nd gen eclipse trannys had a problem with braking or sliding out, if your lucky it will clatter around until you get on it and bust the housing all to haties, i broke 5 of them right out of the box (thank god mitsubishi waranty covered all of them)its good to know people, anyways when the 1st one started it clattered alot just a thought and preventative maint if you already have it out
