Mr. *******-
We appreciate your interest in our products.
The Gearless differential has been discontinued due to poor sales. We are
considering a new style of clutched unit but we probably won't start
engineering until the middle of next year. We will consider the Mitsu cars
at that time.

Any feedback you have regarding this would be appreciated. We have very
little contact with the autocross/rally world and can use any help we can
get.

I asked them if they ever considered making a model of one of their designs for a DSM/EVO center diff.

They make many types of locking and LSD's

If any of you have any ideas on what attributes you would like to see in aftermarket DSM diffs post them here.

Maybe things like front LSD inserts for the FWD guys that don't snap and blow up bellhousings when the spider gears fly all over the place.

Maybe an LSD insert like the gearless locker I asked about which would be as strong or stronger than a 4 spider but require no machining. It would eliminate spider gears entirely and when the clutch plates get overloaded or driveline shock loaded they mostly just slip and don't spit teeth. Actual holding power can be fine tuned via plate size and number.

Maybe things like the fact that beign able to reuse the center diff housing allows for using the same ring gear that the pinion gear started a mating wear pattern with and that you are'nt putting a non heat treated one that spits ring gear teeth like a certain aftermarket center diff.

This is you chance to give engineers what they need to know what you want and need to work with so you don't dub what they think up as a POS.

I'll c&p the best stuff and forward it to Mr. X along with my thoughts on what needs to be made for out cars.

Could they build one of their diffs to fit in the space for our center diff? I always thought our center diff was much smaller than other aftermarket diffs from the 4x4 vendors.

A Quaife center diff would be the perfect diff, IMHO if only it wasn't so expensive and fragile.

Perhaps they should leave the project to someone with a bit of competence?

It's smaller because it's not a 4x4 diff.

Do you know the same company makes ATV diffs which are about 1/4 or less the size of ours?.

The same design can be scaled to fit very different applications.

I know they can make HQ stuff. I think they want to know what to build such that the autocross and rally crowd would be happy with the end product.

I personally would buy a spiderless, ratchet gearless, high bias LSD insert or locker insert. It would beat a spool IMHO.

The Kazz and cusco are nice but $1.5k

This will be a clutched spiderless insert and judging by their other applications closer to the price of a spool.

It wont be as smooth as a kazz but will be alot more street friendly than a spool for a bit more.
