Venice,
I have an ACT 2100 in my car, and im looking to hit about 400whp with the 50 trim thats going in my car in a few months, but i JUST put this clutch in thinking it would be ok up to about 500hp, then i saw somewhere that over 350 and itll start slipping. just bought the clutch and had it installed like 2 months ago, and i dont wanna have to go back in and put in a 2600. Will my 2100 handle 400whp?

I am in the same seat here but I havent bought my clutch yet.Now I read alot about it and most ppl say go for the ACT2600 if you plan on tracking and redlightracing alot with that ammount of power.

I am aiming for a 380-400HP engine(not WHP) and I might stay clear with a 2100 but I think I will go for the 2600 anyways cause you know when the speedbug bites it bites hard*LOL*

So what ya ppl say...anywhere listed what each clutch is able to handle and what to go for?

Should I/we stay on a 2100 or go 2600 all out?
I saw PSI had a good deal now 370 for a 2600 complete kit...?

well you would prolly be ok, but since i made the wrong choice, i would recommend you spend the extra $100 or whatever it costs for the 2600, you cant hurt anything by going too big, other than your left leg, cuz the 2600 is REALLY stiff, but my 2100 isnt much better, but it feels ALOT better than my stock, which i fried before 60k miles :( i was down to the rivets in the disk, it was shot, i even had to get the flywheel resurfaced because the rivets tore up the face of it. get the 2600, so you dont have to worry about it, easier to go bigger now than to pay all that money to redo it again in a year or less if you #### up the 2100. i paid 823$ for my 2100 installed, so if i gotta pay that all over again for a 2600, i know ill be pissed, but its your call man, i just say 2600 ;) good luck, peace

yupp..I install it myself with help of friends so its no big cost..,,,and I wanna fell scure that I can keep upgrading hte car without having to worry about switching clutches again later down the road....

ACT2600 it is! :thumb:

good choice man, you wont regret it, i have the feeling i might though :(, i wish i knew some1 around here that could help me do an install if i do have to go to the 2600. anyhoo, good luck, you will be happy ;)

I wonder how many of the people with G2 crank walk problems had the ACT 2600 clutches? I just fried a CF Dual friction after 4000 miles on a 97 GS-T Spyder w/stock long block, clipped & ported 16G, 3" full exhaust & slicks. Just installed a ACT 2100 instead of a 2600 because I'm afraid of the dreaded "crank walk".

I really dont think the clutch choice is the main reason for crankwalk..Since total stock cars got CW as well I cannot imagine it would be due to the clutch itself. I think if you are one of the unlucky to get CW you will have it just as easy with a 2100 as a 2600.... just my O2....

ACT 2100 on slicks? you are crazy bro, that will kill that clutch sooooo quick. slicks TEAR up clutches, and the 2600 is prolly not enough for that setup with slicks. you should be looking for something bigger than the 2600, like an unsprung 6 puck setup.

Clutches transmit torque, not power. An ACT 2100 could be used with a 2,000 HP engine if you wanted it to. It would just have to be done at 350 ft-lbs of torque or less. The ACT website states the torque capacity of each of their clutches. A horsepower number is virtually worthless.

yes but if you say i plan on making 400hp you can get an idea of what kinda torque they are going to be making so it doesnt really matter

i have a stock clutch on my 20g rofl, im getting 2600 soon, i could only get a 2.0 60 foot anything harder the clutch would slip like crazy, once going it holds pretty good though, i was trapping 109
