AT caught in between gears

REcently I was driving by Laser Turbo with AT and I hammered it in 3rd gear, so it tries to downshift into second, but it didn't quite get there. Instead, it acted like it was in neutral and revved to about 6000, not so good for the engine. Anyone else had this problem?? Also, I checked the transmission fluid and it seems to be high, so I'll siphon some out tomorrow. Could this be the cause?? I'm clueless, and since I just got a nice new paint job on this car, nothing better be wrong!! Thanks for your help,

i had someone tell me one time, its the electrical connectors for the tranny, check those
