my friend just got a 90 tsi. the car shifted great for the first 2 days tbat he had it, but now it will not go into any gear. all you hear is loud grind when you try to shift.

we replaced the slave master cilinder and blead the line. we did that about 2 times and the car started to shift great again. we drove it around for about 10 min without any shifting problems. then we let the car sit for an hour and the problem came back.

what could be the cause of this?

could it be that we need to readjust the cluch freeplay? maby try to bleed the slave cilinder again?

please help!

chech all the pluming for leakes air might be getting in sucked in when the clutch gets let out.

cool ill check for leaks.

do you think that i should readjust the point at wich the cluch disengages?

i noticed some other starange things. sometimes the cluch makes a clicking noise when you engage it. aslo, the tone of the engine seems to change a little bit when you put the cluch in.

What does the pedal feel like? When does the clutch feel like it starts to engage/ Disengage? Sounds like a master cylinder to me. Its leaking pressure down after sitting. Like behind the pedals ( gas pedal specifically) up on the wall where the push rod comes through to the pedal linkage. Is it wet back there? If so the master cylinder is leaking. I would start there. Replace with one from dealer ONLY. Do not buy through a parts store! I've gone through 2 masters in the last 4 months that came from Advance Auto. Trust me there is a difference between the one you get from a parts store and the dealers.
