I noticed after a lot of reading that not many people here use Amsoil. I use amsoil in all my motors.

So Im upgrading to a quaife lsd and Im wondering if this transmission fluid will be ok to use?

AMSOIL Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90

It states manual transmission AND transaxle gear lube 75w-90.
Also states that it protects brass synchronizers.

Is this ok for a 98 FWD with quaife LSD?

PLEASE no comments on being a dealer and getting me oil, I do not want my thread closed.

Mike, its alright for use in our transmission. I just normally use different gear oils more specifically towards high horsepower cars or drag racing. The Amsoil 75w90 is a good OEM-level replacement fluid.

If possible, run Severe Gear 75w110 or75w140, or simply use Redline MT-85 for power levels below 400HP, and 75W140NS above 400HP.

I would recomend against either 75w140 gear oil for winter usage as it will take a bit of time to warm up and could be notchy when cold.

Tim,

I emailed Quaife and they responded that there is no special fluid needed for their LSD. They said to use whatever my transmission calls for.

I also emailed shepherd racing to see their input and they told me to use Redline MT-90 or the Amsoil stating that the amsoil statistics are almost identical to the redline statistics.
I compared the 2 oils charts and they are indeed fairly similar.

Im not doubting what your telling me to use. Just simply telling you the information I gathered so far.

For anyone interested in the stats..

They appear to be very similar....not sure which one is better because I dont know what half of those statistics mean haha
The only reason Im considering the Amsoil is because my friend is a dealer and its easy to get for me.

I was also looking into trying this stuff, maybe other members can chime in on their experiences? There is a guy on a local dsm forum that has done back to back tests between Amsoil and other fluids, not sure specifics, in his 1g dsm and his wifes 4g Eclipse that the Amsoil made it much easier and smoother to shift. The dude swears by this stuff.

Everybody I know that uses Amsoil products swears by them.
I have their oil in my 05 civic, put it in at 100,000 miles and its at 130,000 miles now with no problems so far.
I also switched to amsoil in my wifes subaru at about 15,000 miles, has about 40,000 miles on it. This car will be my personal test, see how long it lasts...
I change the oil at 5,000 mile intervals on both cars.
I buy the cheapest/lowest level oil they offer and it says oil change intervals are 12,000 miles.

I also used the amsoil break in oil on my recent 6 bolt build, I used it for the first 20 miles. I switched to conventional after that. I have about 1500 miles on that motor now and I switched over to amsoil, so far so good!

One of my very good friends is a dealer, he SWEARS by this stuff. Hes always showing me data and tests they do on their oils. Its actually very impressive. It convinced me to put it in everything I own, only time will tell.

My other friend and his father use amsoil and only change their oil and filter in their trucks once a year. They add as needed but havent had any problems in many years of doing this.

Run Amsoil MTG 75w90. Been doing so since I had a stock 90 trans with bronze syncros. At that time Devin now of Boostin Performance said the trans felt awesome and he though it was a shep trans LOL. I now run it in my TRE trans. More then satisfied at 38psi driving on the street and at the 31psi on track. Trans felt amazing. Then upon teardown the trans looked damn near new. It even surprised Jon at TRE.. And a trans can handle high hp on Amsoil. A guy i've been in contact with makes 800whp in his evo and he loves it.

Spoolin98 in my new setup i to am running amsoil break in oil. After motor break in i'm switching back over to Amsoil dominator 15w50. People are really sleeping on Amsoil. The stuff is amazing.

I run Amsoil 75w-90 tranny/transaxle fluid in my gsx and Amsoil motor oil in all of my vehicles.

Why not just ask the people who actually know what they are talking about? or search because I know not too long ago there was a big discussion over this. All including quotes from jacks and what they found what ams oil does to the gears in high power cars. I'll give you this at least though. Oil – Jacks Transmissions LLC
Want more then find the thread on it.

He did ;)

It seems, from all the research I've done, most people really like MT-90, and many builders suggest it, So I went with it and never looked back.

From the thread that I refered to Jacks after running tests stated AMS oil was wiping the gears and making a weird wear pattern. I'll see if I can find the thread. I prefer to listen to a builder who's has done side by side tests and what they say to use.

I used their break in oil on my last 6 bolt.
Ran it for 20 miles, then ran convention 10w-40 for 1000 miles.
Now Im running Amsoil 10w30, but I have a case of the dominator 15w-50 im going to put in when I take the car out this summer.

I did ask people who know about it. I asked Sheperd Racing, Quaife, and I posted on here AFTER searching. There isnt much info on here about Amsoil.
Obviously I researched if I provided stats on both oils.

I was told by quaife to use whatever trans fluid my trans calls for.
Trevor at Shep Racing told me to use MT-90 or the amsoil.
He said to mix it with 1 quart of lightweight shockproof, which is going against the link you provided.
I also did not see anything regarding Amsoil in the link you provided?

Yeah actually I can't find the thread I was talking about either. I'll have to keep searching for it. It was started last year before november sometime. It was pretty much the same question. Which oil to use. I'll go back through myposts and try and find it because I made some posts in it myself. edit nevermind It only keeps last 500 posts so I'll have to keep searching the forums unless a mod can help find it?

Any luck? A local amsoil dealer wants me to run their products in my track car for a year and see how it does. I get all free fluids and they get some advertising, if the stuff works, that's a great deal. Interested to see what more people say on amsoil but I'll probably try it out anyways. I like free stuff.

My car not even fully tuned on street boost ran mid 10's. On amsoil I have never had any issues with notchy shifting or getting into gear etc on my current trans or nor did I when I when I had the stock 90 trans.
