OK BOYS AND SQUIRELLS,HERE WE GO WITH A ROUND OF NAME THAT SOUND....ok ok.seriously my car makes a KA-THUNK sound from the driver fender when ever i acceclerate, thought it was ball joint so i put one in..still the noise is there friend says its is strut tower but i have changed struts still sound what in the world can it be it is driving me nuts????????:talon:

have you checked to see if the 2 bolts that mount the long( drivers side) cv shaft to the back side of the block are tight? Checked all your bushings on the control arm? Wheel bearing? Strut bolts are tight ( top & bottom) my guess is the cv shaft though........

Theres one small thing boosted59 forgot to mention youre motor mount it could be torn.

Could also be the sway bar endlinks. Mine were bad on both sides. After jacking the car up, I could move it and feel the play. Cost 20 dollars each at Napa.

Will

Either front or rear motor mounts or more than likely.....Inboard CV joint on one of your CV shafts.

Also.....Is it a constant thunk or only intially when you accel?

Wiz

Im having the same problem but I only hear the noise on accel. and it increases the "thump" noise with speed until I hit like 40 MPH and the then its to faint to hear.....I leave for florida from Oklahoma city on the 15 and its the 10th today so I think im screwed.....OMG(....anyone heard of that?????

ok,ive narrowed it down it is either sway bar link 26.00 at napa or strut tower hat ''free cuz i got 4 sets.....by the way iam from oklhahoma city tooo. yeehaw chics dig cowboys.your problem doesnt sound like mine though mine only make the thunk sound jut at take off or if i slow real fast it ll thunk then too...dont know well hope you figure it out and have a safe trip....:talon:

I took it to a tranny shop and they think its mostly CV joints and my rear bushings are shot to hell. I leave tonight so Im pryin she doesnt leave me on the road. Ive been tryin to find some people around here with dsm's, Im at tinker right now but when I get back and fixed im headin toward thundervalley.

Yo dude, complete rebuilt front axles are only $65.00 at NAPA with core. See if you can find somebody with some tools and do it yourself, its friggin easy. Good luck and I hope you don't break down!

I have the exact same sound, and mitsu told me it was the strut tower mount. Somthing at the top of the strut?? it costs 45 bucks or so.

Im guessing thats what your talking about by the strut tower hat.

let me know how hard it is to install, because i have to do it soon
