I will skip the Fluff and get right to the facts:

1G AWD (1992). Car has Jacks Trans. Put about 1000 miles or less of simple commuting without issue on the car, no racing. On day on an easy drive, it begins to gring going into second on downshift.

Car gets parked for a year for new motor. I am just now getting it back on the road, it pops out of first gear. If the car is moving forward, it goes into first and stays without issue. If I back out of a parking spot or driveway, it pops back out of 1st 100% of the time.

Clutch, slave, clutch master cyl, fork, T/O Bearing, shift cables, busings, and so on are all new. Solid Motor Mounts. Using Redline Fluid, all other gears work fine other than an occasional light grind going into 2nd on upshift.

I have adjusted the cables until I am blue in the face.

Have you adjusted your clutch pedal yet?

Yes Sir, I have an adjustable pivot ball and 10 different sized rods.

FWIW, it did the exact same thing with 2 different clutch/PP combos.

I have a hard time believeing that its the trans. The car wasnt hammered on at all when it was running before, and Jacks supposidly uses a better shift fork than stock. It was never raced or clutch even dumped. It was basically a commuter car since this trans went in.

Have you already contacted Jack? It sounds like an intermediate shaft bearing issue, or maybe a shift cable/linkage issue.

I am going to try to resolve it before bugging them about it. I am not the Orig Purchaser of the Trans, it was installed years ago before buying the car. But given the motor issues, the car has just sat on jack stands in my garage. I have the documentation showing that it simply hadn't been used for a few hundred miles or more, but it has been years and I am not the OP.

+1 on intermediate shaft if its not the linkage. Id call them up unless you want to rip the trans down yourself.
